As promised, Microsoft has released the "Preview Version" of Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 in both 32-bit and 64-bit flavors. This version of Microsoft's home grown web browser first made its debut with the launch of Windows 8 and Windows RT in late October. Microsoft posted up a landing page with URLs for downloads of IE9 and IE10 for Windows 7 but the actual download link did not go live until later in the day.

The version of IE 10 released for Windows 8 has already proved to be a solid performance, based on what a third party study showed earlier this month. It claimed that IE 10 was the fastest web browser on Windows-based PCs. Hopefully that speed increase will translate into the Windows 7 version of the browser.

Microsoft has been battling with Google, and its Chrome web browser, for the past few years, and Chrome has gained a ton of market share in the Windows browser space, with some research claiming that Chrome is in fact the world's most popular PC web browser. Mozila's Firefox is also still in the hunt but is trailing IE and Chrome in third place, with Apple's Safari and the Opera browser well behind.

My IE9 was fast.. IE10 seems same. Its smart, made a 8mb Temp File Cache on a 250mb ram drive :) But I've only used it for a few hours.. and just now I've noticed it won't do a Return key to next line thing here in this reply form field.

I downloaded it and it did not download all the way. So I tried to redownload it and it said it it was still downloaded which it was not... I tried to figure how to remove it and put IE9 back in and did not get anywhere. The only suggestion was to turn IE10 off which made some changes in my computer but I don't know what they where. I have Windows 7 64bit. The only other things I did was Tuesday updates. Any suggestions or comments would be a big help

Thanks

Did you look in the control panels Programs and Features / View Installed Updates ? right click and 'uninstall' ???

Or if not there, I might make an image and try a Restore Point b4 the IE10 install.

I tried it earlier and ie10 had no sound at youtube,, then tried a mp3 site, still no sound.. reinstall flash, reinstall sound driver.. still deaf, so I unistalled it. All back to normal with IE9 no problem. I should have made an image right b4 installing, but forgot.

Microsoft has announced the availability of Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7, albeit as a pre-release “Preview” version. Previously, Internet Explorer 10 was released along with, exclusively for Windows 8, Microsoft’s recently launched operating system. After the launch, Microsoft announce they will release a preview version of Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7, and later it will release IE10 final version for Windows 7.

The availability of the release preview of IE10 for Windows 7 falls just as Microsoft has planned earlier. As noted earlier, Microsoft said it would deliver the preview for Windows 7 in “mid-November.” In that same note, Microsoft said that the final version of IE10 will follow as it will collect “developer and customer feedback.” Microsoft also said that IE10 on Windows 7 has the same standards based platform for developers to target as IE10 on Windows 8.

Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7

Windows 7 users can download Internet Explorer 10 Preview from Microsoft Test Drive website. IE10 is available for both 32-bit or 64-bit versions of Windows 7. If you want to run IE10 on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, you will need to download the 64-bit version. The download size is about 42 Megabytes, and is available for all supported languages, that Windows 7 supports.

Before you download and install Internet Explorer 10 Preview for Windows 7, keep in mind that IE10 will replace your existing IE version and requires Windows 7 Service Pack 1 installed. You may need to restart the system before Internet Explorer becomes available for you.

I was able to remove it and reinstall IE9. The problems I had with 10 caused problems on both of my Windows 7 computers. So thanks for your help.

Downloaded & installed. I got a vaio I7 laptop and windows 7 64, it installed with no problems and it is very fast. I have been comparing opera and palemoon and I think that ie10 is the fastest of the three. I have not experienced any problems as of yet???? So far so good and yes it is very fast indeed.

I.E. 10 is da bomb. I tried on this site to create a new line <enter button> does not work and this site does not work with I.E. 10 http://www.itv.com/l...mp/default.html <edit>I checked the <enter> issue at another site and it's the coding here that is the problem as it works fine there</edit>
