ESET - Adjust Protocol filtering for Fast WEB SURFING

ASIO

Recommended Posts

Both ESET Smart Security 5 and ESET NOD32 Antivirus 5 scan network traffic for viruses by using the ESET kernel service (ekrn.exe) as an internal proxy server.

By default, your ESET security product automatically detects programs that are used as web browsers and email clients and adds them to the list of programs that the internal proxy scans. This can cause loss of internet connectivity or other undesired results with applications that use network features but are not web browsers/email clients.

This can be fixed by adjusting the settings of the internal proxy, or protocol filter, to ensure that it is only being used for web browser and email applications:

  • Open the main program window by double-clicking the ESET icon Posted Image next to the system clock or by clicking Start Posted Image All Programs Posted Image ESET Posted Image ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus.

  • Press the F5 key on your keyboard to display the Advanced setup window.

  • In the Advanced Setup tree to the left, expand Web and email, click Protocol filtering and select Applications marked as web browsers and email clients.

  • In the Advanced Setup tree, click expand Protocol filtering Posted Image Web and email clients and click Excluded applications. Click and check the browsers that you want to skip protocol filtering and restrictions created by eset products.

My Step 3 screen does not show up the same as this one. I only have enable all protocal filtering and nothing below it, how do I get the other redirect traffic for filtering for to show up, thanks.

if you don't have the option for "Applications marked as web browsers and email clients" then you can directly jump to step 4
