Steve
I recently put Windows XP pro on my old Acer computer(Aspire 3680) and it installed fine but the old Vista Windows files are stuck on another HD and I can't seem to delete them. Can anyone tell me how to wipe a HD? Thanks in advance.
Bizarre™
I think the bootable installer of XP has the option to format. If you don't mind me asking, what is your file system? FAT32 or NTFS?
shought
Use this. You can just do it from inside Windows :D
Steve
I actually tried formatting it from the manage > disk drives but every time it says something along the lines of "Not authorized to reformat".

jalaffa
You are talking about an external hd for your old laptop and not a partition on the internal hd? If an external hd is the case I'm unsecure why on earth you are not able to "wipe" that hd.If it is the internal hd. Press alt f10 and reinstall the system to fabric standard by using either the backup dvd's or the hidden partition that contains a backup of the original setup.Edit:Problem solved then - cool :)
Steve
I managed to delete it! It was just a partition disk not an external hd. Thanks for the help.
