All im saying to all of you is this site was founded on software being as it should be FREE! right. So for years it has been and just because the big bad wolf gets one up on us. What do you think that means for the future other software makers doing it and so on. psyko I just wanna make it known I have been a unregistered user since 2005, just got registered a few months ago. I listen to all of your comments and they are insightful and well thought out. Your very bright! I wanna make that clear. However, I just find it amazing that just because MS barks. We tap even though we have been f**cking them over for years. Just funny to me is all. If we have problems with people spying them make them register before viewing topics and downloading any software. Just like demoniod lets do a invite only forum and site.

Adding my two cents, nothing should change. Without sharing content, we are Wilders. Without removing it when demanded (and when demanded only), we are akin to Demonoid (or any other crack-site...). It's a fine line dividing us from the rest, or I should say combining the best of the two worlds.

While being legal is safe, it is also less free. Total freedom has it's negative side. Nothing is black and white. To stay in the middle is, in my mind, to survive.

it's not a matter of kissing microsoft's ass it's just a question of survival.

i dont mind the fact that office 2013 or win 8 and kms activation is sharecoded here, hell i would be lying if i said i didnt download those but it's the future of the nsane community that's at stake here.

what could be done to protect the admins and the site? i guess a hidden subforum dedicated to patches, cracks, offline activations, and that forum could be accesible by everyone through a post count (20 posts or something and you have access).

just giving an idea. that way we would preventing the big bad wolf from knocking on our door

Simple things I'll like to note.

We staff had investigated into it. What we noted is: remember the KMS activation commands? Apparently those commands had leaked/stolen, OEM/MAK serials in them. Now, we have got a lot of them right, so why this particular thread had this problem? Because, those KMS commands (and serials in them) were posted openly. Whole thread, from first post to the last pages of the thread before closure, the thread was full of serials posted in open.

All this, inspite of us staff regularly telling you all (in general) not to post serials in open like this. No one used paste sites (not aiming at anyone here).

Now you guys might argue why the staff didn't step in. It was because we weren't made aware that the serials being used in the commands are actually real MAK serials. Last time I checked, someone told me they were trial serials. It was only after the thread being deleted / hidden, that a good, responsible member sent us a PM telling us about the serials. As soon as we came to know, we removed all the serials from "Windows 8 General Discussion" thread and pasted them all on paste2.org.

Since then, I don't think we have received any complains about that Windows 8 General Discussion thread.

I know I probably would be revealing too much, but there are chances that MS just Googled the serials, found that serials on our site and sent an DMCA.

So yea, I can't guarantee anything, but taking right measures might prevent such problems in future.

As for the DMCA. If we wouldn't have respected it. We would be criminals by the law. Means, US. can shut us down anytime they want. First, they can send the DMCA to our host, which means we will have to leave them. Even if we go to new host, they will get a DMCA. If not done, US. can shut down the domain, and with some bribing, they can also seize the server - with all the user data, username, email, password, your post, everything. Nsane as we know it, would have ceased to exist. Anything could have happened.

For the safety of the site and our members, we have to take certain steps. Nsane is going on from more than 5 years, with our admins' experience far more than that. Trust what admins do, it might feel bad, but they are doing for the safety and betterment of us all.
