nsane.forums
Windows 8's UI is eye-catching, but there's improvement under the hood as well. Windows 8's most obvious—and most divisive—new feature is its user interface. However, it would be a mistake to think that the user interface is the only thing that's new in Windows 8: there's a lot that's changed behind the scenes, too. Just as is the case with the user interface, many of the improvements made to the Windows 8 core are motivated by Microsoft's desire to transform Windows into an effective tablet operating system. Even those of us with no interest at all in tablets can stand to take advantage of these changes, however. For example, Windows 8 is more power efficient and uses less memory than Windows 7; while such work is critical to getting the software to run well on low-memory tablets with all-day battery life, it's equally advantageous for laptop users. The biggest single piece of technology that is new to Windows 8 is, however, squarely Metro focused: it's a large set of libraries and components called WinRT. I've already written extensively about what WinRT is, so I won't be getting into that here, but there are system capabilities that WinRT apps can use (or are forced to use) that are interesting in their own right. 2 page article continued at source link below... mosaji
Clearly windows 8 is directed towards tablet users. For desktop users MS could have easily given the start menu and boot directly to desktop option...

dcs18
The first time I convinced myself into installing that unending sea of bland whiteness, I got pissed off (because it cost me more than 2 hours of tinkering to learn that Aero was abandoned.)Can't believe that Microsoft executed what my frisky doggie attempts to accomplish - they managed to bite their own a$$. Administrator DKT27 Posted October 29, 2012 Administrator Share Posted October 29, 2012 Something unusual. I was expecting that when Windows 8 releases, the general public might start being more positive about it. But what I saw was rather opposite. Except MS fanboys and geeks, everywhere on the internet I see, it's just negative opinion about Windows 8.I thought I could predict Windows 8's success (or not). But it doesn't really seem predictable.
RMD
Funny thing is I don't even see any commercials around here, it's like it came out of thin air, like they're embarrassed to show it to the masses.
