nsane.forums
Last week, Microsoft confirmed that Windows 8's built in applications would receive a major update, and today they've released some of those applications to the public. Microsoft announced last week that it would be updating the applications that are bundled with the Modern UI in Windows 8, and the company has now delivered on that promise. Right now, the Mail, Calendar, People, Messaging, Maps and Skydrive applications are showing that updates are available for some users, but other users are also reporting that they are seeing an update for the built in photo viewer, sports and news applications too. The changes to the applications were listed the other day when Microsoft announced them, but here they are again for quick reference: SkyDriveSearch within SkyDriveRename and move folders and filesNew first-run experienceCustom sort order Mail, Calendar, People, and MessagingConversation view of your inboxComplete IMAP account supportAccepting and declining invitations in emailCapturing and updating your account pictureImproved searchSearch for a contact within the Messaging app MapsBird's eye view3,000+ indoor venue mapsDriving directions hintsImproved navigation and layoutImproved customization, including custom pushpins and roaming optionsIntegration with Bing and Travel apps The applications are now available for update via the Windows Store in the start screen.
