Hello,

I want to speed up the Vista-boot, does somebody knows some usefull tricks ?

I already disabled a lot of services and some programms that automaticly start on boot.

I also defragged (ultimate defrag) & cleaned (Ccleaner) my pc (ultimate defrag) :P

Sooo, give me some tweaks.

Here's some useful tip:

  • Downgrade to XP... or wait for Windows 7

Not really useful, I agree with you, totally, but your answer wasn't an option :P

I guess there's not really much more you can do... Only thing I can say is that buying better hardware would speed up the boot process(faster RAM, faster HD).

My hardware is fine :P

I have a Vaio VGN-FW21E (P8400 @ 2.3, 4gig RAM, etc)

And the boottime is +- the same as in XP, I just want to optimize is more.

I didn't counted it - yet - , but I think 40sec to the loginscreen.

Items that start automaticly:

-Windows Defender

-Eset Smart Security

-Trailreset :P

-a pointing device driver

-Gmail Notifier

. . . . . . . . that's a reasonable boot-time (I wouldn't be distressed if I were you.)

I am

 No wonder you're trying to convince him to go the XP way :D

BTW, his 40 secs of Vista boot-time is nearly upto your 25 secs with XP

I have no intention of upgrading to Vista

. . . . . . . . . neither have I.

Right, your laptop must've come pre-installed with Vista - no worries, we'll soon update this thread with some good tweaks for you.

Another trick would be to put Vista in hibernate instead of shutting it off. I read many tweak guides for XP & Vista. The one below impresses me.
