nod32 blocks download of keygen saying trojan.

after getting around that, uploading keygen to virustotal, mcafee and kaspersky say

Kaspersky 7.0.0.125 2008.12.18 Packed.Win32.Black.a

McAfee 5467 2008.12.17 New Malware.jn

virustotal nod32 and symantec don't find anything

i'm guessing this is another keygen that doesn't need to be packed, and the packing is causing virus scanners to react. but i don't know, so i recommend using this possibly infected keygen inside a vmware virtual computer until a non-packed keygen is available. i will be looking for a definitely-not-infected keygen elsewhere.

That's strange cos my Nod32 v4 didn't block nothing. Norton antibot found nothing. SpyBot nothing. MCS trojan remover found nothing. Trojan Remover found nothing. And superspyware found nothing. I used the keygen with no problems at all. Guess I'm just lucky.

It is ok to be cautious. Source for this keymaker was BetaMaster himself. Earlier he had this to say regarding his keymakers for Nero:

the keygen doesn't have a trojan, neither an intensive use of registry keys.

It's highly protected to "paranoid" level just to stop any attempt to install a trojan or alike on it.

as of the keys, it reads registered serials to remove invalid ones, or to be sure that no key is registered twice.

anyway, if I see more complaints in this thread, I'll stop making any contribution to it.

For a previous version of it a friend of mine sent it in to Kaspersky Lab for analysis. He got this reply:

According to Kaspersky Lab response, keymaker v3.6 doesn`t contain any malicious code, it is detected because BetaMaster used illegal version of Themida to pack it. Detection will not be removed however.
