vin3e
Heya all,I have been suffering from Alopecia for the past 2 months. Ever since my surgeries (3 in total) I have had patches of hair falling out.I had an intracranial AVM procedure, in lamen terms, I had vessels from inside the brain and scalp connecting to 1 spot which gave me a large squishy bump on my head (the AVM).The procedure consisted of using glue to block the vessels supplying the AVM. But it wasnt just single vessels, they were networks of vessels. So if you cut off the supply of blood the entire network would lose blood etc. I hope that makes sense. It is in those large networks where I am losing hair. I have scabs appear on my scalp for no apparent reason. These scabs would lose hair around the area and it will evenutally get large in radius. The first spot just above my left temple has stopped falling out and is just above a network. The second spot is on the top right of my head (another network connecting to the 1 AVM) and the hair has just started falling out in clumps.I am worried guys. I've been told it is temporary because of the loss of blood but I've never been able to clarify because I cant find similar symptoms online.1. Should I pull the hair out since its going to fall out anyway?2. Should I do anything differently? I've chosent o wash my hair once every 48 hours3. Taking lots of vitamins especially zinc and vitamin c.Anybody on this forum that can offer me any advice?Attached: Pic of my lovely hair :(

grouchysmurf
Just go skin all the way. Why the hellish obsession with hair?Does it affect quality of life? There is no way in hell unless I was going to die would I let anyone cutmy head open. You worried about getting a date? News flash: ALOT of people, male and female, like the clean scalp.Do not invite an ugly scalp by letting some damn witch doctor scar it up.Just my opinion, but I think you need to re-organize your priorities.Be proud of what you have, not what you lose. johndoe
you need to consult a good dermatologist i.e. skin doctor. this is their area of expertise. depending on whether or not your hair/scalp is salvageable, he may suggest medicine or surgery as treatment. hair transplant is another consideration. the doctor should know best. Why not retain what you have rather than just let it all go? Yes it will affect me. My confidence, my self esteem. I do take price in how I look, maybe not all people. @Johndoe - I have already set up an appointment but may cancel depending on what my topics yield. I mean I am way too young to be losing hair and it has only occured after surgery. Probably once the left hand temple starts to regrow I will feel a lot better about the other patches too. but thanks for the advice. don't be afraid, my younger brother he had alopecia 6 years ago. johndoe
your topics will not yield the kind of information a trained specialist will be able to give you. you should not cancel that appointment. that is my suggestion at least. the rest is up to you. UnderShadow
When i realized baldness was in my future i just shaved off all my hair. Problem solved. Now it's growing back and it's quite long, but that's just because i've been too lazy to shave my head again. Also the women in my family don't like it when i'm totally bald, but i really i don't care anymore.

Everything goes at some point.....you can make it go better, or you can waste your "confidence" not to mention your money on all manner of gimmicks for your self esteem. I will not believe that the confidence in oneself or ones own self esteem is tied to ...hair. Please, vanity and shallowness are also two things that do not last long. If there is even a remote chance that this condition will truly effect your quality of life, or endanger you in anyway, then please seek medical attention now....otherwise, try going smooth....you just might like it. shawn75
What u also can do is, drink a lot a blending juice, that what my younger brother also did. Buy many different kind of fruit and blend them in a blender and drink it. Also carrot, cucumber, spinach and all type of fruit , you need the nutrient in your body at this moment. My brother use to drink alot of those. Eat enough garlic when u cooking. Also eat aspereges it contain a lot of folic acid. Eat a lot of leaf vegetables also. Your body need the necessary vitamins. Once your body will get the nutrient, your body will start recovering little by little. It can take time.In my brother case, he had shave his head because he had many bald rond spot on his head. It took him around 5 years that his hair was growing again of those bald spot. Dont stress yourself, be confident in yourself, we all go thru many things in our life..Eat a lot of fruit and vegetables they are best.Eat also fatty fish like salmon, makrel , sardines and Walnut are also very good for your concentration at this moment. Also check with your doctor , and see how he can help you.I wish you all the best and goodluck in your health related problem. Hope you get recover soon from all your health problems.Take care.
majithia23
most likely , the hair will / should grow back .the hair , the visible portion is known as the shaft , has a root , a follicle deep in the skin , from which it stems and then grows . most likely , because of the surgeries the follicles are in a state of shock hampering their normal growth and physiological properties . this led to falling off of the hair shafts .so unless the follicles have been damaged in some way , i dont think there is a need to worry . the follicle will take some time to recover and then start doing what it is meant to do . grow hair !its like you sow the seeds and then wait for the plant to grow !patience my friend .also make sure Alopecia isnt a side effect of any medication you might be having .And yes dont cancel the appointment with the dermatologist .what ever may be the reason , he will better allay your anxiety .
