Nima
Hello guys, :hi: It has been always a question for me, what kind of my connection exactly is, I need it for some settings like cFos or other network optimization softwares. ^_^ Let me explain it for you, I have a modem which is connected through a LAN cable to my computer and the modem itself connected to internet without any other cable, it is wireless. The service which I have is marked as WiMaX 4th Generation Wireless network. I do not know my connection type is considered as Wireless or PPPoE. I do not think it's wireless because I do not have wireless router to find other WiFi networks and connect to them, the only thing is that the modem is connected with a LAN cable to my pc. It is always connected to the internet, I can not disconnect it unless I unplug the modem from power. But in the modem, I set the username and password with ISP gave me, so it means I need a username and password, the IP Address is somehow strange maybe, because it's, 10.1.1.254. My modem also supports WiFi, so I can run my own wireless hotspot, I use this feature to connect to internet through my modem from my mobile phone. :) I took some pictures, I would really appreciate if someone could help me on this. :) - Windows Connection Menu - Network Connections - Local Area Connection Status - Network Infrastructure - Modem Status Page - WiMaX Authentication Page - Green Packet WiMaX Router Properties + Advanced Settings - Green Packer WiMaX Router Device - cFos Speed Medium Menu My connection is DSL (PPPoE) or what? Thanks in Advance, ;) Nima
Administrator DKT27 Posted August 26, 2012 Administrator Share Posted August 26, 2012 I think WiMax is a different thing altogether. Like 2G/3G is offered as last option, there should be one for Wimax, I guess.

grouchysmurf
Your connection is wireless, on a CLOSED network. It is similar to a cell phone, in the way you are assigned a specified ip, and you have a specified log on.I would be very careful if you are trying to optimize, i.e. get a faster more efficient speed..while these may workwith general connections such as Broadband, DSL, Typically the only use for a specified wireless conectionis to keep trak of/limit data usage. From my standpoint, trying to shape your traffic over wireless may conflict with the parametersof usage over this network. If your connection is slow, look around for a better option. If that is all you have, maybe you can get an upgrade?
Nima
Thank you all for replies. :)I do not have any problem with my connection speed and stability, in fact, I am really happy with it. :)My ISP guaranteed 2 Mbps (256 KB/s) download speed and I get this speed all the time, even in night which traffic usage is free, the speed ranges from 245 to 275 and the uptime is +99.98% in a month. My question was that, I should treat my connection as DSL/Cable or Wireless, especially for cFosSpeed? :unsure:And one more thing is that my IP is actually Dynamic, although, it is possible to buy a static IP on my connection. ^_^
Administrator DKT27 Posted August 27, 2012 Administrator Share Posted August 27, 2012 I think, as unknownasphyxiated said, you should keep at Adaptive.Do one thing. Keep it at adaptive. Let it work for few hours or so. Open cFosSpeed > Adapter Info and check for "Traffic Counting Method". What does it say?

Open cFosSpeed > Adapter Info and check for "Traffic Counting Method". What does it say? After almost 24 hours, it says "Adaptive", seems it does not detect connection type automatically. :(

I know there are only retards there, but call and ask your ISP.
