Just in case, you're referring to system files from the older drive - do not attempt to copy (use a good backup software instead to restore the same to the newer drive.) ;)

Acronis does a good job cloning drives to different sizes. Easeus Disk Copy may be another option, and it´s free for home use.

  • You wanna replace 80 GB to 120 GB as your primary HDD?
  • Or, you wanna make 120 GB one as secondary (backup) HDD?

Just a little tip, however you set the drive up - use Tera Copy (the links are somewhere around Nsane). It will make copying much faster (and resumable, too): B)

Good luck!

Then I would recommend you to install a fresh copy of Windows(or any other OS you want) in the 120 GB one and let the 80 GB to be as a backup drive..Then whatever you need, copy them to the 120GB one.

In that case, copying is out of the question you have little choice but to get into backup/restore mode. ;)

i Want to replace 80 gb hard drive with 120 gb

  • Download Easeus Disk Copy Home
  • Create a bootable pendrive/CD-ROM
  • Install both drives in the same system
  • Boot that system with the Disk Copy pendrive or CD-ROM
  • Clone the old drive to the new one. Please double check source an destination!
  • Turn off the PC and disconnect the old drive
  • Reinstall the new drive in the same place of the old one
  • Boot with the cloned drive and take your time to test that everything is ok.
  • Erase/partition/format the old drive and use it for whatever you want
Easeus Disk Copy can clone to a larger drive, but if by chance you end with a partition with the same size of the original one (80 GB) you can resize it to fit the new drive (120 GB). You can do this with Windows 7 disk manager or with any other tool ie. Easeus Partition Master Home (it´s free too).

I hope it helps, sorry about my english.

hi my bro

you have two choice for this work

1. winmend copy file this is the best software to improve copy speed if you use windows 7 choose it becouse it has the best comptablty with 7 ,

site:http://dl.downloadha.com

code:/Kave/up/WinMend_File_Copy_1.3.4(www.Downloadha.com).zip

TERA COPY + SERIAL

2. Tera copy v 2.27 if i were you i would prefer this but it hasn't any negative point from above software but has less comptableity with windows 7 but if you have any problem choose this

site:http://dl2.soft98.ir

code: /soft/TeraCopy.Pro.2.27.zip

Use Norton ghost or whatever kind of Imaging program you like.

Shut down your pc

Connect the sata onto your mainboard.

Restart the system and boot with the Ghost cdrom

Copy partition to partition

The job is done
