Room mate brought up the idea of getting a HDD Media Enclosure which relly isn't a bad idea custom external HDD that can be directly pluged into a tv for media plesure, and network. anyway has anyone used one or delt one,

I myself think its a wast of cash

but the nicest one i see that uses wireless to make networking easy is

MediaGate MG-450HD Wireless...

I think you should buy a cheap mini laptop instead. The best external HDD enclosure is THIS i looked around quite a while for quality built (Quiet and nice heatsink) and come to the conclusion that this has the best connectivity (2 firewire 800, 1 firewire 400, 1 esata, 3 USB and 1 uplink) and flexibility (powered by USB, portability, auto powering with computer) The only reasons i can see to use network hard drive is for it to be accessible without a computer on (accessing your stuff via WEB or FTP server i.e.) or put your hard drive away for noise reasons. For 350$ you could have a cheap laptop that can do more that just a media server...

Thats what I told him and convertors are cheap vga 2 composite video is cheap
