(Also recommended is a free add-on called "CCleaner Enhancer" which extends CCleaner's coverage by more than 270 additional programs, as well as offering automation of CCleaner to run when Windows starts.) A word of caution on the 'dreaded' Registry. The Registry Cleaner is the one component of CCleaner that I do not use (and recommend the same to others). Since XP, the Windows Registry has become far less needful of 'cleaning' (especially true for Win Vista & 7); indeed, the potential for great harm far outweighs the good that cleaning might offer - even the mild cleaning of CCleaner. If one loses sleep over their Registry not having been cleaned, BACK-UP the Registry beforehand so that it can be restored to its previous state if need be (at the very least, set a Restore Point).
