Samurai
8MBNo Caps / LimitsNo port blockingAlthough admittedly I can't get no more than 7.2 MB as I live "too far" from the exchange. Funny as I'm 5 mins away. Also on a 1 month contract :sneaky:I may be switching to Be Internet soon  24MB for £20 apparently.http://www.bethere.co.uk/pilot and free modem included. 24/7 customer support. nsane
how far are you exactly meter/yard wise?i read somewhere that the peak distance to be from a node/exchange is within the first 1800m or so :sneaky:edit: btw, i found out my line is actually a 1.5Mb (~192KBs) but i can only pull ~170KBs on a good day... Samurai
Me personally, I'm "You are approximately 531 metres from the exchange (straight line distance)." according to SamKnows.comI'm roughly in a straight line anyway, but taking into consideration where the line has to go, I'd guess at 600m away. How this is too far to get the full 8MB service I'm paying for is anyone's guess. I probably have to live in a telephone box outside the exchange to get what they state. Would get a bit chilly at night though, not to mention probably fighting off the local tramp in case I'm in his manor
vin3e
Holy shit, can you reassure me im getting a good deal? cos i trust you :rolleyes:I dont want to wander off into a bad deal just in case i misread any small print.
Samurai
If you're looking to get a new ISP, just make sure you read their Terms & Conditions and AUP (if they have one). Things to look out for include restrictions on speed (caps), port blocking, contract length, customer services (trying ringing them up and seeing how long it takes them to answer).Good reviews can be found on ADSLGuide.org so check that out. From what I've read about... Be Internet seem to be the next best thing, but you do need a BT number. part of the reason my monthly bill is so low is because I had to switch to the ISP's telephone service too. In any case I'm on a 1 month contract anyway so it's all good. Also check out samknows.com, detailed exchange info to be found on there
vin3e
You do it for me, just state any terms not plausible *sits back and relaxes*
Chicano666
The ISP I plan to switch to has the following:Max Down/Up Monthly Price5.0M/384K $44.958.0M/512K $74.95On their FAQs they say that they will not 'throttle bandwidth of cable customers'. What I also find interesting is that theres no limitation with Newsgroups. What do you think?
apcmiller
Has anyone actually ever maxed out the bandwith. I'm using 1.5m dsl and have tried to find a site that will let me download at 1.5m and have yet to find one. I had 4m cable and switched, still havent really been able to tell the difference. (aside from have to port forward everything through the router, pain the the a**) So what is the difference if you have 1.5m or 8m down.
