rudrax
Hi everyone! :) I got a problem..When I insert a micro SD card to my laptop's built-in SD slot, it works fine but when I try to modify the contents in the card, it shows an error The disk is write protected. The manufacturer of the slot is Ricoh Company and I have the latest drivers installed. some weird phenomena:If I keep inserting and ejecting the disk, in some random time it works fine..I tried other SD adapter too but the problem is same..Some other SD card shows no problem and works fine with the same adapter at the same slot.

Avitar
The disk is write protected.Did you try right clicking it > Properties > (disable) Read only. Did you try sliding the little white stud on the side to the unlocked position? if that doesn't work, open device manager, uninstall but don't delete the driver, then push it back in to install the driver again. tell me if these two steps fixes the problem. majithia23
its not weird .memory cards or memory devices are notorious for this stupidity !( i had one memory card which worked fine on every computer , but just one on which it would ironically cause it to hang up ! )try as the other members say , and in addition i would recommend ,> HP format tool . ( get it from Softpedia . its free and is good )> GPart Live .mostly , the error resolves after formatting .do this ,get GPart live and Boot your PC into it .now GPart gives you an option of back up the contents of a storage media .back up the card and just reformat it .should be all ok later .oryou can even go for Puppy Linux .get the live one , boot into and do the same ! grouchysmurf
Have you tried another card? Stupid, but if another card fails to allow changes, is it possible that the reader slot is..well...fubar?If another card works, then it is the mem card that is partly fubar, and in that case I would copy evrything onto another card. dcs18
Just a little note of caution:-Some SD cards especially from cell-phones do not take too kindly to being formatted by PCs/laptops. They need to be formatted from within the phone, itself or they start resisting 'read/write' after being formatted through other media.
