► Ever wonder where tech dudes got the common understanding that crack=activation program? The slang I use

to refer to to these things were developed by "the scene" to prevent google from finding the words hack, keygen,

crack and patch in our posts. Using the term "medicine" cloaks the cracks in the pharmaceutical industry, but when

a user searches, software will most likely not be on a medical website! Different terms have also evolved:

1) Alchemists: reverse engineers, turning unactivated programs [lead] to activated versions [gold].

2) Chemists: serial and crack suppliers.

3) Lecturers: Tutorial writers. [ie: lectures]

4) Vaccine: program that blocks internet access for software. [ie: activaton check patch]. Unvaccinated programs

call home and locks up [reinfected].

5) AIDS: Crack that does not work and/or has a virus. For cracks with virus, need to be run in sandbox or virtual

space.[ ie: a condom]

6) Condom: "Wear a condom" = run in virtual space or sandbox to test crack.

7) Sharecode: a link to medicine that a site cannot host directly for legal reasons. Users click the link to the site,

then append the

sharecode as a suffix. [eg: Site: www.nsanedown.com + Sharecode: /crack.exe = www.nsanedown.com/crack.exe
