Technology Posted May 25, 2012 Share Posted May 25, 2012 Home and Corporate User , Windows 7 http://www.av-test.o...er/marapr-2012/ Important note : ESET failed!!! Symantec Norton 6/6 in Protection. No doubt, Eset is losing the touch. I think V4 was way better than 5. I personally have moved to Emsisoft, it is very good antivirus including with excellent virus removal tool. :showoff: According the AV-TEST, F secure also did quite well along with your favourite GData and Kaspersky and Bitdefender. :showoff: :win: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Tweety.Abd Posted May 25, 2012 Share Posted May 25, 2012 Despite what the report may say, ESET is one of the best AVs in the market. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
dcs18 Posted May 25, 2012 Share Posted May 25, 2012 ESET should divide their AntiVirus product-line into 2.1. Have a dedicated standalone AntiVirus for the hardcore Professionals. This is what their flagship V2 was all about.2. Have another all-in-one suite with a hotchpotch of antivirus, firewall, HIPS, identity theft, anti-spyware, etc., etc. for Beginners. mazigh Posted May 25, 2012 Share Posted May 25, 2012 ESET is not too good as I hoped, Since Two Days It couldn't Stop a nasty Trojan (After using a crack for Pgware PCMedick) that made my PC couldn't Start up, Hopefully I had a backup ^^NB: After Restoring my PC I scanned the suspisious patch with Virustotal, Most known AV detected it as Trojan or Hacktool, even NOD32 engine detected it as Probably a Hacktool but the funny thing is my ESET found nohing!!,So Weird! somatose Posted May 25, 2012 Share Posted May 25, 2012 I don't put much stock in these AV-Tests. I've used most AVs and I always go back to ESET. Symantec may have a high detection and removal rate, but what does it matter if 97% are false positives. I want to keep my keygens and patches. I barely know that ESET is there, but when you do need it, you can count on it. ;)Edit: Norton is for the paronoid, ESET is for the savvy Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
morteza Posted May 25, 2012 Author Share Posted May 25, 2012 Keygen or crack is an hacktool so Symantec has not FPs in this case.You can add your program folder in exclusion list of Norton.I use this and no problem till now. :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
AlienForce1 Posted May 25, 2012 Share Posted May 25, 2012 For me it`s really strange this result :`Average slow-down of the computer` -> Norton + ESET = 8 , AVG =4 (?!?) :nono:`Cleaning and repair of a malware-infected computer` -> ESET = 0.5 / 6.0 :wtf: , McAfee + VIPRE = 3.0 / 6.0 (?!?) morteza Posted May 25, 2012 Author Share Posted May 25, 2012 Norton is powerful and number 1 in repair section but AV-T results said 4/6 !!!! :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
flik Posted May 25, 2012 Share Posted May 25, 2012 For me in dissinfection technology, kaspersky is best, followed by norton.AVG results are strange to me. Only prevention is good, very good actually, almost great. But in usability and repair infected systems, I disagree. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I am with you there, Kaspersky is very good in repairing and removal. Not sure about DrWeb. Even Gdata and Emsisoft is also good in removing torjan and malware. Which forums do you mean? darko999 Posted May 25, 2012 Share Posted May 25, 2012 In my personal use and old test I did:ESET: -Very good proactive detection / heuristics, if your computer is clean, and then youn install ESET it would do great. It has top performance and best interface GUI.-In the other hand, it has a poor repair system, its true, many changes you computer my receive from viruses/trojan, most of them will not be fixed by ESET.NIS-Best proactive defense so far / best detection rate.-Not better repair system than KasperskyKaspersky-Very good detection rate / custom settings for a strong security level-In my personal opinion, the best repair system ever. mentor81 Posted May 25, 2012 Share Posted May 25, 2012 Av-Test is a poor and superficial test site... The results Absolutely irrelevant!
