Samsung Galaxy S2 Firmware Upgrade

1- I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 android phone with these Specs:

Model Number: GT-I9100G

Android Version: 2.3.6

Baseband Version: I9100GXXKL4

Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7 dpi@DELL165 #2

Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XXLA1

2- I have also downloaded and installed Kies 2.3.1

3- I have a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit operating system

When i open Kies and connect my android to my laptop, a messsage pops saying that a new firmware upgrade is available, see the attached pic

Can anyone explain to me what is that update ? what it does ? is it necessary ?

It's just a newer version of Android 2.3.6. DBT is German firmware code. It's safe to update if you want but I have never updated with Kies so I don't know if it will delete your data. All I know for sure is that firmware updates have never erased my built in sd card or my external sd card, they only affect the part of the phone memory where the actual system data is stored, user files remain intact. Only thing you can possibly lose is address book and sms but you can sync those. I also use this SMS backup & restore app that works every time.

@ravisoorya: India has, according to Samfirmware, NOT 4.1.2 yet. Only 4.0.4. So how did you that officially via Kies?
