harpua
I agree that it is not necessary to run it every 30 minutes, but I also think like he said, it doesn't hurt anything because it simply won't pull a new license key off the server unless and until the presently installed one is invalid. manpe
How often is it recommended to auto update ? I haven't got it scheduled for every 30 mins, but I have it one time per day at 16:00. Is it okay ?

Is it okay ?the way u update is ur choice...it works either wayYeah, but I heard that it's best for pirate license users to update as rarely as possible. But thanks for the answers. Also may I ask if MarsuFix 2.5 works ? Because it worked on XP (it had 30-31 days trial every day), but on Vista I get this license expiration thingy. So I reverted to the license generator on the nsane homepage, but is there any fix like Marsu's which works on Vista ? Or perhaps any update servers which is useable ? But if it sees itself when update is necessary, then great :) Guess I'll have to generate new users and passes every day or two, as they get blacklisted every day :(

You first have to schedule it to check whether it needs an update or not (unless you want to just rely on it checking when you boot your computer). And then when you make it check in with the server, if an update is needed, it will go ahead and update. If it is not needed, it will just say "license still valid, update not needed" (or words to that effect).

Mystique
Just tested fix and it auto updated signatures to version 3340 however the frequency or reliability of these updates have some what been reduced. My opinion is that we should wait it out and see what happens after a few more days or weeks rather than throwing our hands up in the air claiming the sky is falling. :)According to the official website 3340 is the latest available update. I would try disabling UAC first and see if that works. I can't stand UAC anyway. To disable UAC, go to control panel, user accounts, and select turn User Account Control on or off. You also may have to change to way vista notifies you of security alerts to get rid of that stupid shield in the system tray. To do that, control panel, security center, change the way windows alerts me to security issues (or words to that effect). Finally, if it still won't run at startup, you may also have to disable windows defender which is another progrom that is overly intrusive. I did that and installed SuperAntiSpywarePro (available from Nsane applications) and that's a better and less intrusive antispyware program anyway, that does what you need and is more configurable that windows defender. Lacius
I wouldn't recommend disabling UAC. I definitely wouldn't call it nor Windows Defender "overly intrusive."I'm not sure why UAC is blocking NodLogin at startup for you guys, but it's not for me. UAC is enabled in all three of my Vista 32-bit computers, and NodLogin is working perfectly. I also scheduled a task in ESET to run NodLogin every night at 4:00 AM.Any word on trial fixes and their updates (or lack thereof)?

harpua
I wouldn't recommend disabling UAC. I definitely wouldn't call it nor Windows Defender "overly intrusive.". . . .Each to his own. :D With Comodo FP, EAV, and SuperAntiSpywarePro installed and properly configured, I don't need Vista to hold my hand and wipe my a** for me.But that said, I would agree that for the "inexperienced user" at least (i.e., someone like my mother) they should keep UAC and Win Defender enabled.Btw, there is a cool little free utility called "TweakUAC.exe" that enables one to easily adjust UAC to still run but be slightly less intrusive than it normally is, or turn it off or back on, quite easily. harpua
Another thing occurred to me regarding why Vista could be blocking NLI at startup. If one is using Vista x64, perhaps it may also be necessary to disable the signed driver requirement. I don't know since I always run with that disabled anyway as too many of the programs I like to run use unsigned drivers. This can be done manually by pressing F8 at boot and selecting "Disable Driver Signing" (or words to that effect) from the menu that appears, or there is a free program called "ReadyDriverPlus" that will automate that process for you so you don't have to sit there and repeated hit F8 every time you boot up. I use ReadyDriverPlus and find it works flawlessly. Someone on this forum turned me on to it a while back. I have learned a lot here.
