Actually, I'm working on my own unlimited trial patch trying to bypass the problems with the ones currently available (constant process in taskmanager, non-updating version number in tray icon) :)

Does Dennis' patch just remove the watermarks cosmetically, or does it also make the ESET servers think you are running a registered NON trial version? Cause if it just removes the watermarks cosmetically, then you are still running a trial version and not getting any extra benefits beyond the look of it, right?

Correct, its purely cosmetic.

I think even being purely cosmetic it would be nice if both of you (Box and Dennis) could do it using only one patch, otherwise people outsider probably doesn`t like this way...with 2 patches,no?

Maybe marsupilami could help too, but I think he is on holidays now.

I see you have done a correction to a small error that appeared before ( not being really a error although) when changing some configuration at Advanced Setup.Was shown an indication of error but changes could be done...

Don't forget the BoxMaraEset3Fix and Eset3BoxFix (enhanced) that have no known issue. (The enhanced doesn't work on home editions.) I'm thinking of making the (enhanced) an automatic install but I don't know if we need another crack for Eset at this point.

As requested by some, my patch now also makes it permanently 31 days so NO OTHER PATCHES ARE REQUIRED!

The tray icon version updates properly, there are no strange process constantly running in the background :)

It still removes all watermarks also.

If you prefer to use Box/mara/vadim fix, stay with version 3 of my patch.

Now with Virus signature database on taskbar too, which means ALL IS PERFECT with DennisPatch 4.

Instead of trial , changed to Registered Version.

Where it was Upgrade to Full version - There is nothing now !

Sure, an ESET scheduled task is made (called "ESET Maintenence") to run a very tiny (4kb, or 1 NTFS sector!) program which zero's out the PackageTag entry, resetting the trial. It is set to run every 15 minutes, and is completely silent, no windows are visible at all.

Yipee! thanks for testing, and this means that the dynamic patch is working, and it managed to find the correct offsets in the ESET AV exe without me telling it where to look :)

Todo list so far for v5:

• Fix the typo of "Maintenance"
  
• Change description to say "tested with ESET AV 3.0.669" (thanks jofre!)

With guidance from Dennis, I was able to reproduce the same result in the egui.exe. I just changed two letters in the egui.exe and presto. I'm not Eset but I think changing two letters will not affect the stability or any way degrade the performance of egui.exe. I bow to you.

Ill keep making new versions until there is nothing wrong with it! :)

Fresh install would be best, but it should work on top of each other. Alternatively, if you had "make backups" ticked when you patched, delete the patched files and remove the *.bak extension from the backup files, then its back to how it started.

• MAJOR changes to the trial crack - you can now see it change before your very eyes (if you leave the watermarks on :))
  
• Fixed the "maintenance" typos

NOTE: If you have v4 installed, remove the scheduled task from ESET scheduler, and delete eset-maintenence.exe from sys32, then you can install my new v5 properly.

As per request, here is just the v5 crack, with the watermarks left in (UPDATED FIXED VERSION):

(I recommend you restart egui.exe or the PC after applying this patch, in the full patch, egui MUST be closed for it to patch it)

If you want to see it reset right infront of you, once the patch is installed, simply change the clock to get 26 days remaining (for example), then either sit and wait 15 minutes, or if you prefer to speed it up, run the eset-maintenance.exe from sys32, and in 2 seconds, the eset window will show 31 days remaining, without restarting or anything! JUST LIKE MAGIC :lol:

EDIT: My own stupidity caused my vista fault, I missed a typo in the "crack only" release :lol: It is fixed and confirmed working now, IF YOU PREVIOUSLY DOWNLOADED THE "CRACK ONLY" - please redownload, delete the scheduled task and re-apply the fix for it to work.

Am I correct in assuming that this version will not work for vista x64 systems? Is a version for vista x64 planned?

Also, I have a comment. If you remove the "remaining trial period" counter, then a user has no way of verifying that the fix is continuing to function. If the fix stops working for some reason, a user wouldn't know until one day the program suddenly simply won't update any more. So I think it is better to be able to see how many days one has left.

It would be nice if you could provide an option to install the fix without patching or changing Egui.exe for those who would prefer to have the counter visible and working. And it would be nice to have a x64 version.

The removal of the watermark ONLY works in english version, my chinese version still show 31 trial days. I think you can make a patch including files eguiLang.dll and eguiUpdateLang.dll make works on any language ver.

Hmmm, I dont have any *Lang.dll files with my ESET, have you got a link to download the chinese demo?

I cant read chinese so I wont be able to tell if it works :) I would guess the lang files are pure localized files, so only containing that one language, but i dont know. if it does, it would be quite hard to make that patch dynamically I think.
