Chrome - Adblock plus (Beta) vs. Adblock

Hello!

I am long time FF user, and a couple of months ago decided to move to Chrome since I found that it was much faster.

I then found all my favorite extensions (or their parallel ones) in Chrome.

I have been using Adblock, which has the same purpose as Adblock Plus in FF.

My question is, which extension is better performing in Chrome?

The Adblock Plus also has a version (Beta) for Chrome, and I tried them both with the same lists (both worked), but I guess there is some technical differences I didn't see.

If anyone has some info on the subject it would be appreciated.

Thanks!

There's no comparison between those two. The one built for Chrome is a malnourished midget seeking viagra concocted in the laboratory of WWF porn stars. :showoff:

I tried out both for considerable time (5 months), and I finally decided to go for Ad Block for Chrome. It's efficient, easy, and light.

The aren't the same.

Adblock Plus was first introduced in FF and only some what a year ago was transformed to Chrome.

Adblock was invented by an individual whom envied the Adblock Plus for FF and created the extension from scarp to what it is today.

They share the same agenda, but I believe their coding are some what different.

ur not correct! chrome adblock plus beta is the same creator/programmer of adblock plus in firefox..

yah ADP is first created for firefox but due to majority request.. the creator of ADP create ADP for google chrome!

impact first time ADB creates for chrome was too buggy! it blocks the advertisement but it show a buggy line where ADS located!

but now ADB for FF and CHROME are almost perfect and the same!

I'am using chrome for now .... i quit from firefox!

Those who thought that both those add-ons were equally endowed probably need to relook into their browsing and configurations. At default settings, both apparently may seem to have the same muscles.

Let's hear it from the horses mouth and this is what the Developer of Adblock Plus have to confess:-

We are currently working on providing the same experience for Google Chrome as what you are used to from Firefox. Please keep in mind that we are not there yet and much work still needs to be done. There are also known Google Chrome bugs and limitations that need to be resolved.

I am not comparing ADBP in FF to ADBP in Chrome. They are from the same creators, but that is not the issue.

The comparison is between ADBP and AB.

from what i read ( cant confirm ) ADBP (chrome) is faster in deal with many tabs open than ADB.

another thing that IMO ADB is better than ADBP is in blocking in page elements , try same with ADBP and it will mess up your page blocking incorrect stuff.

also u CANT run ADBP with ghostery they are conflicted.

Go with Adblock for Chrome, it's more efficient and besides, it's not in 'Beta'. :)

That was no the issue.

The existence of the Beta is known. The question was which is better ADBP (Beta) for Chrome, or the home made AB extension.

Do you know any differences between the 2 extensions?

There isn't really any. But if I find AdBlock more pleasing in terms of efficacy.

This is true. I'm not saying that people should not use AdBlock Plus (Beta), rather that I prefer Chrome Ad Block. Which one's better? Answer to that varies from one person to another. There's no absolute truth regarding what's the best.

Here's one big deficiency in Adblock Plus (beta) in Chrome: it's had a bug for at least two months now where it doesn't update filters automatically; you're required to go update them yourself. There are long threads about it, but here we are in May with no solution. The other Adblock for Chrome doesn't have this problem.

I will 100% agree with on that one. But I think their are different developers for Adblock in Chrome, some will better and some will do less.
