When installing Windows 8 as virtual machine in VMWare Workstation I get this message all the time:

Does someone know how to avoid this error.. I don't understand what I did wrong..

I don't get an option to chose Windows 8 in the beginning so I chose Windows 7..

I have burned the ISO to a DVD and when installing I get this:

and then this

[Edit] I used PowerISO 5.0

Had faced this problem too.

Open VM Menu > Settings > select Floppy Drive > Remove > OK. This should solve the problem. :)

This is normal issue when you will install windows through, 'installation process window'. I also used to have this issue but when I went through http://www.afterdawn.com/news/article.cfm/2011/09/15/install_windows_8_dev_preview_in_vmware_workstation the stages of installations, it things went ok...Try it bro. :)

Marked the thread as solved.

Glad that it worked. I too had spent like a hour or so to find the solution. Some guy on some forums mentioned this solution. :)

Hmmm.. when I try to copy/paste something in W7 and paste it in W8 virtual.. it doesn't work so I have to type my password over and over again when signing in/ starting W8.. is there a way to disable the login sceen thingy in W8 when starting up ?

Firstly, pasting and copying to vmware doesn't work, as far as I am concern. However, you can drag the stuff from Windows 7 to windows 8 in vmware workstation (notice: doesn't work in vmware player)...Hope this helps.. :)

Thanks for your reply again Technology.. :)

When I dragged NIS2012 .exe from my W7 x64 to W8 virtual it doesn't allow it..

Do you have vmware tools installed onto virtual machine meaning windows 8....

No, I have vmware installed on my W7 and made W8 virtual..

To make the use of useful features in vmware workstation, vmware tools is necessary for additional features. I will recommend you to download it on Windows 8. However, I not too sure will vmware tools will be able to install on Windows 8 due to the compatible issues. I also have Windows 8 installed on vmware but removed it, now I am on windows 7 to do experiment with antivirus. When I install windows 7 onto vmware, the virtual machine automatically identified vmware and try to install vmware tools...I will suggest you try clicking onto VM tab --->Install Vmware Tools for windows 8.. :)
