Office Version Installed: 14.0.4734.100 (32bit)

That's a common enough issue with the 14.0.4734.100

You'll need to install the right version 4.0.4755.1000

Moved to Software Chat.

There's no worthful use having 64-bit office though, it only helps when you are having an excel spreadsheet over 2GB.

Yeah, I'm always looking for smaller downloads what with low bandwidth and all. So a lot of the software on my PC is x86 on my x86-x64 Windows (Office, Metastock, Matlab, R etc.) except for content creating stuff like CS5.5, 3ds max, Maya etc.

By the way DKT - I think you just made up that word - worthful :P

I installed Microsoft Office 2010 Professional x86 v14.0.6023.1000 + SP1 from the download link provided by RocketMan but it does not show that the SP1 is installed ?? should it be installed with it or it must be downloaded from Windows Update ??

should it be installed with it or it must be downloaded from Windows Update ??

As the above figure illustrates you already have SP-1 (14.0.6023.1000) installed on your system. Unfortunately, as other Users will testify the SP-1 wont be reflected anywhere. Windows Updates will detect the SP-1 automatically.

I hope this is not a dumb question but the above are they activated or do they need to be? Also a question of 32 64 bit. I have tried to install 32 bit on windows 7 64 and it has never worked, I have always had to install the 64 version. This was with office 2007? Is 2010 different and will the 32 bit install on a windows 64 system?

Thanks in advance & if a dumb question I appoligize in advance.

The quest for knowledge isn't dumb. The only dumb question is the one you don't ask B)

...are they activated or do they need to be?

Well nigh impossible that they are activated. Original Digital River/MSDN downloads are authentic MS files and you have to install and insert a key/patch to be able to exploit the full functionality beyond the trial period.

Anyways, to check for activation, open Word (or any other Office component). Then "File">"Help". Look right. If it says "Product Activated", then it is. Otherwise it's not. In that case, download and run This Toolkit:

Site: http://www.datafilehost.com

Sharecode: /download-36bcce9c.html [?]

by a programmer named Codyqx4. It's completely clean irrespective of what your AV might say. Turn off your AV before download and add "C:\Windows\AutoKMS\AutoKMS.exe and C:\Windows\kmsemulator.exe to the list of exclusions.

Also a question of 32 64 bit. I have tried to install 32 bit on windows 7 64 and it has never worked, I have always had to install the 64 version. This was with office 2007? Is 2010 different and will the 32 bit install on a windows 64 system?

As for the 32-bit-Office-on-64-bit-Windows question, I'm currently running just that. So you need not worry. Sorry for my condescension, but maybe you're confusing it the other way 'round. 64bit on 32 doesn't work. 32bit programs on 64 bit OS works without glitch with very - very - few exceptions.

Microsoft Office Website: "Important - The 32-bit version of Office 2010 is the recommended option for most people, because it prevents potential compatibility issues with other 32-bit applications, specifically third-party add-ins that are available only for 32-bit operating systems." - Link
