I have two os on my conputer XP and Ubuntu. XP had to be rloated so I had to disconnect the hard drive for Ubuntu. The XP install went fine as far as I thought. When I went to dowload the drivers for my LAN They and a couple of others Nvidia . I wwent into the network connections and nothing showed up. I have the correct software CD fpr my model computer I can't get online, When I run Ubuntu I have no problem getting on the internet Also another issue When I load Ubuntu Grub is shown It goes right into Ubuntu, There is no listing for XP. I need to find out why I can't get XP to wok. At least load the ethernet drivers so I can get online and set up bios so that when the computer starts I can shoose when OS I want to load Also wen I was in XP I put in the Windows CD and it asked if I wanted to update or reinstall with out having to when the computer starts. I hope this makes sense cause I am confsued . It shows Windows installed but in won't connect. Any info would help Thanks

i would go online and download your drivers from the manufactors website.

a trick ive learned over the years: if you have a lot of drivers and dont know which one to install, go to www.pcidatabase.com

and type in the VEN ID and the DEV ID to get the company and driver name, very helpful for my work.

Get drivers from Drivers solution pack : http://drp.su/download.htm

and everything will be ok!

First go to someone with a internet connection.

next step put in your bc burned or whatever.

And let the program do his job..........................

Depending on which HDD is set as master, the computer will use that bootloader to start (probably it can be changed from the BIOS, but then you would have to modify the Windows bootloader to include the option for Ubuntu). From your post it seems that Linux will still start after plugging in your Windows HDD, so you could edit the Linux bootloader:

http://apcmag.com/how_to_dual_boot_linux_and_windows_xp_linux_installed_first.htm?page=5

Also you said that you have the correct CD, so I'm assuming the network adapter is integrated on the motherboard. The manufacturer driver CD should work, unless the adapter has been turned off from the BIOS - but since it's working in Linux, I'm actually clueless on that one. :)

PS.

Ok I just realized that I misread your post, but in any case GRUB is loading 1st. :$

If I just start the computer and let it run it will go into Windows If I want to get into Ubuntu I have to press F10 and then it will go into Ubuntu and then I am able to get on line. Its very frustating for me...I like Ubuntu for certain things but the programs I use only work with XP
