sanjoa
Hi, guys! How you doin'? Is there any difference in speed between different microSD memory card's brands? I mean, if there's any difference between, e.g., a Kingston 32GB microSD HC class 10 and a Patriot 32GB microSD HC class 10 memory cards regarding speed. Thanks in advance
speedy57
It's the same speed normally because it's the same class.Take a look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital
LeetPirate
All sd cards are not made equal. The Class means it meets some minimum read/write speed requirement but I think it's for sequential operations. I/O operations per second vary amongst the brands. Avoid Kingston, they use the cheapest bottom of the barrel chips inside their stuff. For a camera, I/O speed may not be as important because those file operations are mostly sequential but for a smartphone you don't just want any class 10 card, you need a good one.My advice: Transcend class 10 mircosd. End of Story.
niceguy7327
I just purchased a digital camera and did some research about what to buy for my camera. The most important thing is to get the "class#" correct. For instance my camera stated for it to record video smoothly it required a class 4 or higher. As LeetPirate noted there are other factors as well. Get the class# for your particul;ar camera and then buy a reputable brand and you'll be good. g/l
sanjoa
Thank you all. Patriot is a good brand?
LeetPirate
Hard to say, I don't think Patriot makes their own memory so it's most likely a rebadged memory from another company, you would have to check user reviews for the model you want to buy to be sure. Diji1
Thank you all. Patriot is a good brand?Patriot and Lexar are good brands. The previous poster is correct regarding Class 10 being a *minimum* performance standard and many cards are much, much faster. There's a good thread over at xda-developers where users test their SDHC cards. Tom's Hardware also has a decent comparison page. Like with most consumer level computer hardware there is an abundance of information made by complete idiots with regards to memory cards on the internet. I suggest you take care to use a reputable outlet and not say Amazon comments etc.
