<img src="http://www.nsanedown.com/images/logos/java.png" class="logo" alt="Java" title="Java">The Java Runtime Environment (JRE) provides the libraries, the Java Virtual Machine, and other components to run applets and applications written in the Java programming language. In addition, two key deployment technologies are part of the JRE: Java Plug-in, which enables applets to run in popular browsers; and Java Web Start, which deploys standalone applications over a network. Users should install the 32-bit version if they are using 32-bit browsers. If you use both 32-bit and 64-bit browser interchangeably, you need a Java Plug-in for each browser. Hence you will need to install both 32-bit and 64-bit Java respectively.

Java 7 has not been released for the public yet, has it?

According to Oracle:

Why is Java SE 7 not yet available on java.com?

The new release of Java is first made available to the developers to ensure no major problems are found before we make it available on the java.com website for end users to download the latest version.

Hi I have a question, maybe someone can help. In this page http://www.oracle.co...oad-513652.html there are three options to download windows x86. I don't want the online option, I want the offline option to update from 7.0 to 7.1.

What is the one which doesn't say if its offline or online?

The important thing, I supose, is that I just want to update not install it new.

Thanks.

You should download the smaller file - jre-7u1-windows-i586.exe, and not jre-7u1-windows-i586-s.exe, which includes Yahoo Toolbar.

You're not the only one who got bugged with this question:

Now I learned something new myself!.

Thanks a lot.

Also. My secure logins to banks does not work when using version 7, so I need to use version 6.

I install both of them. :P

But yea, you'll need 32-bit version as far as I can understand.

We're of the same breed. I ensure both x86 and x64bit are installed, as well.

that is what is recommended. if you have only the x64 version installed, any 64-bit browsers (e.g. IE9x64) or other 64-bit applications will be able to use Java but any 32-bit browsers (like Firefox release x86) or another x86 application won't be able to so it is recommended to install both versions if you are running x86 applications on x64 windows
