Friends, I have just fixed a problem with Wndows media player crashes while seeking a matroska video file. I got the latest divX filter for my media player from nsane forum. Itz amazing. But then I noticed, While I seek a MKV file frequently, the player get crashed. I googled it and found Haali splitter at http://codecs.com. Downloaded itz latest version and installed. This fixed my BUG.

Just curious? Why WMP? Can you install any other player? WMP simply sux.. haven't seen it launched in any of the computers I handle in a long time..

Maybe you'd like to try something like this, which I'm hooked up with.. It simply rocks..

there's nothing much we can do to increase framerates on video files, not unless your source files are 60fps or faster to begin with.. most movies available over the net are usually capped at the usual 23.xx/24 fps..

just read up on your little suggie, as found this on wikipedia:

Trimension is a framerate enhancement software by Philips for video, primarily DVD. The software utilizes both picture and stream information to render new frames between the original frames of video (tweening), thus increasing the framerate and enhancing the smoothness of motion.

Currently, Trimension is capable of enhancing frame rate from 24 to 48 (for 60 Hz displays) or 72 frames per second.

The motion interpolation produced by Trimension is not entirely natural, but can be pleasing in many respects. The software has been criticized for artificial look and has been said to make film seem like video, and potentially to degrade the movie-watching experience. There is also a slight cropping of the video to allow for good edges of the smoothed picture.

Framerate enhancement can provide an interesting benefit if it is performed after upscaling. If the picture is scaled to a high-definition resolution and then tweened, the tweened frames will have motion that exists in the high-definition space even though the actual picture resolution does not. It is unclear whether available implementations of Trimension scale before or after tweening.

Well there sure is a difference with faster FPS, but at the end of the movie, isn't the storyline more important than frame fluidity?

Matroska filter, haali splitter, etc. are all included on those codec packs. :)

If you are going to stick with Windows Media Player, I recommend that you should remove both Divx and Haali, and install K-Lite Codec Pack (Standard). However, I won't recommend using WMP as there are better players out there. Media Player Classic (included in K-Lite) or Pot Player for an example.

As long as the videos itself are made in lower FPS, there's no real possible way to see them in higher ones. 25FPS to 29FPS is quite a standard on the internet from the time I know.

K-lite codec pack is good but it has a very poor seek speed..divX has the fastest seek speed I have ever experienced..it seems cool being the fastest..well u cann't render AVI files while divX is assigned for h264 decoding..I use k-lite codec pack for AVIs..

Thats right, fluidity pleases eyes..I'll watch another time in nomal frame rates for the storyline..well, from your recommended site http://codecpack.co, I got SVP, it helps me out to accelarate AVI files upto my displays refresh rate..its quite awesum..thanx for http://codecpack.co..

Not just mkv, but a lot of the other files are also a real pain on WMP. For most users, Media player classic and VLC after all these years is still hard to beat IMO.

MPC for additional features. VLC for the sheer variety of files that it playes right out the box without asking to d/l codecs at every given opportunity.
