System Recipes

I wanted to start a topic where people can share thier recipes for a succesful system.

I will start off so you can get the idea as to what this is about. I a always learning new tricks

from people like you who share knowledge on how to do something, and I am always fascinated

by many of the different ways people use to perform certain tasks.

Ok, enough of the soap box, lets get to it.

My recipe for a smooth running system:

Antivirus: TrendMicro...(aquired from nsane)

Additional spyware/net protection: PeerBlock.....(another gift from nsane)

Process Manager: System Explorer v3.7.1....(yup, found here as well)

Back up manager: Norton Ghost with bootable recovery cd.....(this one required a little more research on the net)

Browser: I use FireFox with Ghostery, NoScript, and AdBlock Plus.

Email client: Gmail..I use web base only for a couple of reasons. The first is I do not download emails to my system, and therefore do not worry about getting viruses from them. Second is, I can read my gmail from anywhere via my phone.

Download client: I prefer uTorrent.

Download manager: DownLoadThemAll!! aquired from Mozilla/FireFox add on site.

Now this is just my recipe. I try to create a working combination that uses very little resources, but affords proper protection. I also manually run updates, rather than allow things to auto update.

Ok your turn...what keeps you surfing?

P.S. If this topic has been started elsewhere, my apologies. I thought a fresh one was due :)
