mrkool123
I am to considering buy one of these routers for regular home use, and youtube streaming. The E 1500 with speedboost is a little more expensive, my only concern is if the E 1500 with speedboost will indeed offer better performance. What do you think? Also, i know its backward compatible with G.do these routers work well on older G laptops. LeetPirate
Any wireless G device will cause the entire network to operate at G speeds. The decision comes down to how big is your home? If you have a current router and you get good signal from it then you can probably take the E1200. If your distance from router to laptop is far or obstructed and you get poor signal then you could probably take the E1500.
mastershake
imo i dont like the new e series at all. i would go for a asus rt16 or netgear myself. i sell all three brands at my shop and linksys e series is by far has the most complaints especially when it comes to range. a nice asus rt16 flashed with tomato is awesome and rock solid, a cheaper choice would be the rt13 from asus. even the highest end e4200 sucks in range in real world use compared to most others regardless of what "test" sites say. i own the e4200 v1 and 2 among other e series, netgear 3700, 4000, 4500 and others and many asus routers and my linksys e series just sit in the closet. LeetPirate
I'm an Asus fan as well. Asus gives you better hardware for the price than any other brand. I share a similar experience with Linksys, their brand is just a name, their performance is not the best. I tend to stick with Asus or Buffalo.
