Speed Up Firefox!

1) Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit run. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining

network.http.proxy.pipelining

network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2) Alter the entries as follows: (by double clicking them)

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. (I changed mine to 100, works great.)

3) Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

nglayout.initialpaint.delay should never be set to 0. It will cause an increase in CPU/ memory usage - maybe even slowing down your firefox.

50-100ms is the lowest i think this one should go. Try some different values and find the best one for you.

Why don't you all use firetune.

You can enter if your computer is fast or slow and if your internet connection is fast or slow.

It will setup everything for you and you even can backup whole Firefox.

Does not FasterFox pretty much do the same things. ?

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1269

I use it and like it, it for sure works.

Nope, it does not do the same thin. This will even further enhance the speed.

But it sure does work good yeah :(

Sounds like a bug to me...

I installed straight over FF3(Rc's), and it works fine for me (I didn't need to change any settings)

Same could be achieved like what is stated in Irefay's post when you have nightly tester tools.

But still thanks, this does it all without changing allot of numbers.
