Alanon
I'm from Serbia, one of the countries formed after the old Yugoslavia fell apart in a civil war during the nineties. However, on most forums Serbia isn't even listed as a country, we scarcely exist in the internet, while our neighbouring Croatia is almost universally present. That is also the case here. Croatia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Slovenia, all have their flags, and all are former republics. When the old Yugoslavia fell apart a country was formed under the same name, also during the nineties, but later on changed its title first to Serbia and Montenegro, and then into two separate countries Serbia and Montenegro respectively.I personally wouldn't mind the old Yugoslav flag (with a star in the middle, the one which existed before the war), as are my personal inclinations, which have no bearing here. However, the flag available here is the one marking the unity of Serbia and Montenegro, even before they were called so, before 2003. The two countries separated in 2006, and rarely where on the internet can you see them separated. These things have much deeper political implications here in my region, where everyone propagates their own nationality, of which trend I am not to comment here. Nevertheless, I would still love to see the flag of my country which I love, on a forum which I love also.P.S.I'm not even sure it's up to the forum staff to control these things, as it might be the engine itself, so I would be grateful for any information on the subject. Also, if I misplaced the topic I would be most grateful to the moderators to place it in its proper location. To everyone else, sorry for the history lesson, I've tried to make it as short as possible (it's a hugely controversial topic, especially today - those who are abreast with the Balkans political climate know what I mean) but I needed to make sure that I have proper argumentation for such a request, and to eliminate any malice or controversy. Sorry to have taken so much of your time.Alanon

Alanon
This flag dates back to 1848, and it was suggested as a Pan-Slavic flag, a movement which wanted the ideal unification of all Slavic peoples, and was later accepted as the flag of Yugoslavia, as it in 1921, as the Kingdom of the Serbs, Croats and Slovenians, united the groupation of South Slavs (there are also Eastern, and Western). As for the Russian flag, it's assumed that it was created in and around 1668, was used more or less since then, and its origins are disputed. It could've been taken from the Dutch, or vice-versa, and I haven't a clue when the Dutch flag came to be.@mydisbb: Actually, as far as the internet stuff goes, it's pretty cool. There are no sanctions or firewalls, blacklists, and no-one monitors what you download. You can buy pirated music, video-games, films in DVD or DivX quality for an average of about 2 euros, right on the street. That is, of course, if you don't want to get them yourself. :)The political climate is something else entirely, we've just been rejected as a candidate for entry into the EU by Germany, and there's the Kosovo issue. But I'm getting WAAAAAAAAAAAY of topic here, we could discuss the matter more thoroughly in a different topic, should anyone like to know more.On topic: Thank you very much, shought! I'm looking forward to more information. Alanon
@shought: No offense at all. (They all look like that) XD Should you ever come to Serbia, however, do not mention this event. Religious zealots would kill us both for offending the big man. It's as problematic as with the Pope. xD@RocketMan: You are very welcome. :D Should you, or anyone like to know more, I would be glad to oblige. ^_^
