wow you worry to much...i assume you use Firefox ?

If so then you don't need to worry about viruses and etc...of course if you are willing to visit all kinds of sites for cracks and the likes, you'll prob get more than a virus

Ever since I started using FF i don't see the need of having a firewall (the ESS one doesn't count since it doesn't do ****)... as far as viruses go I never got one ever since i reformated XP, that's like 1 year ago

He, he, he!

I'm using FF and I'm not visiting all kinds of these sites (I'm not interested in this).

Sometimes I used P2P, and you can see which connections involve using it!

Not all the programs are executed all the time! But you can are browsing by FF and you can see how many times your connections attempt to get stablished with "DoubleClick", "Cybernet Entertainment", "Limelight Networks", "Coremetrics", .......This depends of what are you surfing most of times.

I don't worry about viruses, I don't make a week scan because I don't need this.

My last reformated XP system was 3 years ago!!! And still runs very well without viruses and the likes!

I'm testing some software too, and his compatibility.

well, good just for you, I real agree, but for everybody?

Nowadays, do you think that is possible surfing secure without a more advanced personal firewall and without antivirus program?

The answer can be yes, but for less experienced people also?

I don't believe in "paranoid" protection, but I like test it. Without common sense nothing & no programs can protect you from mistakes or infections.

Linux OS's makes easy this work, but Windows not, and the Windows fails are the money market of security software publishers.

Nowadays, at Windows OS's, Should we need some "extra" security protection or not? What do you think?

Thanks!

You did say security 'combo', right? ;) Bit of a overload here, i know you don't use them all at the same time, but still.

Edit: I like common sense though, always worked the best for me...

Ah well, i like to keep my system safe too and have my own tricks for doing so. Common sense will save you in 90% of all cases for the other 10% you have apps like you listed.

Not at all! I'm testing compatibility issues also, I´m interested in this.

Common sense: 90%

Security software: 50%

Results: 140%

A 10% it's very important, a 0,1% it's very important. One file can damage all the good work you can do. After execute it (by mistake, error) can produce a chain of disasters. And for me reformat OS isn't a answer, only if hard, very hard, disaster occurs.

3 years, some problems, no shadows backups, and my OS still working good. I don't need more!!!

ESET Smart Security + Comodo Firewall??? These are 2 firewalls!!!

Two firewalls working at the same time are not a good solution, and can produce you serious problems!

or do you say for ESET Antivirus (EAV) + Comodo Firewall?

KIS is a whole suite with antivirus and such, Comodo is not. So keeps things clear :dance2: What you can say is: Comodo is better than Kaspreky's firewall... Which is believe is true actually.

Differences is actually "only" in KIS have base of blacklisted malware and ComodoFP have base of whitelisted applications...

Ok, KIS have antispam and parental control and Comodo does not.

But Comodo have Full featured HIPS, and KIS only limited behavior blocker...

BTW. I using them both, but my KIS installation is limited to only scanner, fileAV and antispam
