I've been using Windows Picture & Fax Viewer for quite some time now and I'm looking to see if there's anything better out there.

I did come across this article on Wikipedia; Link

As you can see there is quite a few to choose from. Anyone here have any recommendations? It doesn't have to be free so if you know of one which is pretty decent, do let me know.

Many thanks :)

I was actually looking at both of those mentioned. IrfanView seems to be a very popular choice so I'll try both out.

Thanks people :) Much appreciated!

I love Irfanview. Been using it for years. It is very fast, and lightweight, and only uses basically one executable. It supports virtually every format, and does provide some tools for tweaking image files. Xnview is another nice one, more features but a little more baggage.

Irfanview ofcourse > http://www.irfanview.com/

You have to study some tutorials on it, but when you know all the stuff you could do with irfanview? Then you dont want anything else..

irfanview and xnview are both pretty good, but, most of the time, i use Windows picture.

i have made some change, to the way XP show pics.

Start, run, regedit, and go to...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

edit new dword value named "ThumbnailSize"

add the decimal value of....for exemple 176, more if you want it even bigger ( 128, 144, 160, 176, 192, 208, 224, 240, 256)

the default size is 128 in XP.

you can also add a new DWord value named "ThumbnailQuality" with a decimal value of 50 or 100 (color quality preview)
