http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

I use hostman for editing mine http://www.abelhadigital.com/

with the new nsane exeem and all. do we need all that stuff in host file anymore? or just use the host in mvps link?

check to see if host is clean up after a reboot?

turn restore off?

look at host change date time and maybe restore point before it.

i would guess you have a virus, worm, adware or spyware on your system that did that. posted hyjack this! yet?

oh oh just thought. try using CWShredder original or the new different company one?

deep deep scan your files?

oh turn the s&d spy\sweeper and stuff so that you can change your host file?

uninstall virus scanner, reboot, install, reboot?

any hair left?

yeah, there's definantly something up with your comp. also try looking in your restricted sites list...

Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Security > Restricted Sites > Sites...

make sure nothing is listed there. you may also wanna check the registry site listings...

Start > Run > "regedit" > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Internet Settings > ZoneMap > Domains

make sure no site are listed there except msn.com

quick question on the restricted sites. would s&d put files in there? just wondering. i check mine and they look like bad sites. im figuring a program i had listed them there. just wondering which legit programs would do that?

it might, did you 'immunize' your system?

i believe so... didnt know where it put that kind of stuff. the resticted sites list look like nasties, porn, coolsearch nasties and site names that look fakish. microsoft should let us copy and paste the whole list there.

hope the one guy gets his system up. restore point, backup restore or format harddrive it looks like for him.

this a good time so say let the "protection" software lock your host file. i forget which ones do it, i just know mines locked.
