i don't see why messpatch doesn't work...just switch to the standard skin....remove the ads...and then switch back to the vista skin

I tried but that isn't working....

Do this: Uninstall Messenger Plus Live, uninstall Messpatch(if you can't find this search add remove programs in Windows XP), uninstall WLM. (Exactly this order)

Go to 'X:/Program Files/Windows Live/Messenger' and delete this folder and all it's contents. (X stands for the drive letter of the partition where you have Windows XP installed).

Install CCleaner/TuneUp Utilities and do a registry scan/clean.

Install WLM, apply Messpatch, install Messenger Plus Live and download/install the skin you want to use.

This should work, if it doesn't the skin is the thing causing the banner and you should choose to live with it or remove the skin and do all things i just mentioned over again.

ps. if you want these instructions in Dutch send me a pm!
