i like to keep things under 'my' control and not automated ,

so do manual back ups on sky drive and external hdd .

things i might access from some place else my computer , go to sky drive .

and also for some things i like to keep multiple back ups .

and when ever i feel like .....

the routine pretty much serves well .....

All goes to DVD disks but in first place to another partition.

I do not have to many software installed, so I install when I need them...

only on local storage (external HDD)

before I stored data on burned CD but after a short time (6 / 7 years) they turn corrupted and I definitely lost these data.

I keep my nightly Acronis boot partition backup, music collection backup, and important data on 2 fan cooled eSata external enclosures using 2 Western Digital 1.5TB Back Caviar HDDs in Raid1 (Mirror Array) and my general storage goes on 2 WD Back Caviar 1TB drives in Raid0 (Striped) onboard. I have an external eSata drive dock and have about 10 older HDDs kept in anti-static bags for my movie collection. I have a rule...I always buy the 5yr warranty Western Digital drives and I always rotate them to from backup duty when they hit 3yrs old and use them for my movie collection. Running 4 x 60GB Ocz Vertex 2 SSDs in a Raid0 for the boot/system array.

I'm sooo lucky I just updated the HDDs about a month before prices hit the sky.

Was forced to select freedrive as the option for external HDD is missing. Prefer to backup into 2 destinations (D\: volume and then the external HDD) on a daily basis.

Another user here for external HDD. I back-it-up once or twice a month, because my files don't change that much. It's easy and safe.

External HDD, too. My connection is not the best so no reason for me to up- and download data for a whole day. :wtf:

For all small things (little tools and stuff) i use 4shared.com. Free space is no luxus anymore in those days. :)

The best and cheapest option: external HDD. Once a week or month depending on the file changes. :)

Use gmail and mediafire free for smaller files that I don't want on my external HD where I keep my main files - i.e. music and old programs. XD

I'm not sure if it's popular, but JumboFiles looks really good for online storage/backup.

Always on external encrypted USB-HDD.

Never on net drives..

What software do you use to encrypt your external hard drive? I tried Windows Bitlocker and PGP, but it didn't work out so well for me.
