not Indian but a huge huge fan of Indian music, I grew up listening to Hemant Kumar, Mukesh, M. Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Jagjeet Singh then later added Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, Roxette, etc. to the mix.

i was not even born in their days , neither did any one happen to make me to listen to these greats ,

but i still found them beside the rock and roll i used to listen to ,

and i thank the allmighty for blessing me to have that ear and sense to appreciate the music , enjoy it and live it ! ^_^

I was brought up listening to Mohd. Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar. My father is a die-hard Rafi fan, so most of them were from him. Glad to know people still like classics.

These days I hear a lot of non-Indian music, from 50s to 90s English, from childhood anime favorites to new ones. But JB, please. -_-

Gotta mention this, about 80% new Indian songs don't get my vote either.

one is the original classic, and the other one is , well if you have heard it , all vulgar and mindless stupid remix of it ,

if i were to put , i d say , its only about 5% .

95% out there is all shitty n rubbish.

and this 5% is also esp in the underrated / under ground music and artists .

I dunno, I don't like or hear any new hindi music these days, some songs from Sonu Nigam (not so many these days?) and some music from films from A. R. Rahman (Irrespective of Jai Ho) is something that I find acceptable from these days.

Sonu Nigham is very good. Listen to his cover of "chal ud ja re panchi" then listen to the original by M. Rafi - you will find them to be equally comparable and that is saying a lot seeing what a great singer M. Rafi was.
