Which do you prefer, and for what reasons?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Well, since i switched from IE to Firefox, i found myself needing a new download manager, because my old one wouldn't integrate into firefox properly.

I have voted LeechGet, mainly for the fact that it is compatible with Flashgot, and it allows you to enter it into the context menu as well. Not to mention having all the features i require. Has to be my favourite so far, but i have been meaning to try out Flashget, though i want to be cautious about adware and spyware managers :P

To be honest I don't really need one, and haven't needed one since I was on 56k. You see as soon as I click on a download link, I've literally got it anyway :P

However, saying this GetRight was a very easy tool to use, and I'd recommend it. It's just a shame they started charging for it, as it used to be free. There are ways around this though :P

used net transport forever, been testing with getright pro lately tho. it has alot of features that come in REALLY handy...like checking the date of the file (good for apps like ares, with all those silent updates) :P

I actually used to use Real Download (From Real) but then i switched to Star Downloader because its waaaaaaay better. Nice features and customizations and works on many browsers. :P

I tried using DAP (cause a friend recommended it to me) but I didnt like it.

Never tried GetRight but it seems good

Currently using FDM. pretty good (simple interface, handles downloads well... atleast better than IE! :P ) I guess and its free :P

Used to download with WellGet cuz it was like a clone of FlashGet but noticed that it used all the CPU Ressources when downloading

I heard that DAP and FlashGet used to be bundled with some ad spywares

Is it still the case? :P It was the reason why I stopped using those 2 heh

I guess lite said something like that too... but I've registered my FlashGet, and pimped it up with FlashGit. My virusscanner (NOD32), nor FW (Outpost), nor spyware scanners (Windows Defender, Hitman Pro's Scanner(s) and Ewido) ever found anything.

Yes... their site says copyright from 1999-2009. And checking the update news, it dates back to 2001.

Hmm. Was it called "Internet Download Accelerator" before? If not then it should be in the list.
