Microsoft revealed on Tuesday that its upcoming Internet Explorer 10 browser will feature auto-correct and spell checking.

Internet Explorer 10 will ship as part of Windows 8 and Microsoft plans to use it as the only browser for its Metro style experience. The software giant revealed the new auto-correct and spell checking features of IE10 in a blog post on Tuesday. Mistyped words will be automatically changed into the correct word and users will have the option of building up a dictionary of words that will also sync using Microsoft’s Windows Live cloud features in Windows 8. Microsoft claims the auto-correct feature is the first browser-based implementation of auto-correct.

Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 10 spellchecking support is built off the functionality in Windows 8. Microsoft’s next-generation operating system features spell check across all applications. HTML text area elements will all be checked for spelling in Internet Explorer 10. “The word is checked against a dictionary associated with the current keyboard input language,” explains Microsoft’s Travis Leithead.

Microsoft is currently readying its Internet Explorer 10 browser. The company unveiled a platform preview 3 version of IE10 at its BUILD conference recently. Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 10 platform preview 3 build is only available inside Windows 8, for now. The company previously delivered platform preview 2 in June and has revealed that the final version of Internet Explorer 10 will only be available for Windows 7 and 8. Microsoft confirmed in April that it has no plans to offer IE10 to Vista or Windows XP users. Future platform previews of Internet Explorer 10 will be made available every 8-12 weeks.

IE needs to have faster updates, needs to update as fast as Chrome or Firefox to become better.
