Administrator DKT27 Posted November 6, 2011 Author Administrator Share Posted November 6, 2011 Here's the Mozilla wiki page for 64-bit Firefox.First of all, I doubt it will even make Firefox 11 (never know, I am guessing it should be FF11 but have my doubts). Now, though I've read the above wiki page hundreds of times, I didn't notice this particular aim before. What Mozilla is trying to do here is, make 32-bit plugins (Note: NOT addons, addons should work fine in 64-bit), the plugins like Java, Flash & Shockwave (just as an example), to work on 64-bit browser. Also, convert those 32-bit plugins to 64-bit. So this isn't a small task, they are trying to make sure that people get everything from 64-bit that they get from 32-bit. Tax Man
Thanks, but with this release I have encountered two different sites that complain I need to update my flash version. Of course Adobe reports I have the latest flash, but other sites don't see it that way. Reinstalling flash does not help.
FaeGiN
The only thing that has started making me refuse to update is that I lose lots of my addons usage...Not all of them can be fixed by Nightly Tester Tools or editing the files yourself to change the max version string... Does this break addons too?I suppose they all do at first til the addon maker updates...some seem to be not updating though. :(
Ganxxta
Use Add-on Compatibility Reporter to activate those Add-ons, most of them will work fine.
Levo
as usual can't download from the ftp link provided, :angry:is it just me or someone else experiencing the same?
smspire
I have used Mozilla's "Nightly Builds" (version 10, used to be 9, and used to be called "minefield"). It is 64bit, supports flash AND java (java 7! which not even regular firefox accepts),You need windows 7, 64bit, and to download the 64-bit flash and java players, then google "nightly builds" and download it there! 64bit Firefox has been around for a long time, I have used it for years, though in the last 6 months they finally made flash work for 64bit, and it has been my main, fully-functional browser ever since! SacredCultivator
^Don't misunderstand.64-bit isn't OFFICIALLY supported by Mozilla yet. They have always had plans for supporting it but it's still pretty low priority.Yes there are build since quite some time ago but then it's just for those wanting to test + improve it. So it's not that it's not acknowledged that 64-bit builds of FIrefox don't exist, just they aren't officially supported/ publicized to the public.
