Olexijl
Hello together,I suddenly run into trouble when noticed today that my both topics for IDM (hosts Patcher + IDM 6.07.11 Patch) in Coders Corner are now MERGED together. So i likely want to discuss MERGING rules. Why topics are merged without notify creator of the topic even via PM about this? Can the creator disagree? There are, as for myself, good reasons why i separated these both apps and not maked them together simply in the thread like i found today...So please think about that. anuraag
haven't you got pm by any staff member about merging those two topics?
Olexijl
Sorry i dont have any PM about this.Sent 0ver PM with the reasons why i disagree with such a situation. I am really not informed...
Administrator Lite Posted October 26, 2011 Administrator Share Posted October 26, 2011 I'll look into why you were not contacted, however the action undertaken is the correct one as per the guidelines:Each application should be in a single topic (no version number in title). Any duplicate topics will be removed. This was agreed during the setup of that forum, with consultation from various members of the forum. We decided its easier for everyone this way - everything is in a single place instead of looking for things in 2 or more topics.

Maybe the action is the correct one, but why i was not informed just AFTER i created those both topics and sent them for APPROVAL? That is long ago, i created even links connecting those both topics with each other, so people could safely use what they prefer. Now my own reasons why i still disagree.1) I wanna manage the downloads separatedly for hosts Patcher (needs upload for current IDM) and for 6.07.11 Patch (needs an update now). They are merged now. Sometimes i do not recommend the current IDM version, but i still recommend the older one. In this case i still offer download for recommended older version.2) People who pressed the "Like This" button were for both topics different. As an example i have my friend Polgaso here, who prefers my IDM hosts Patcher, not the patched version. He followed even my topic for hosts Patcher. That is only one example...I think, if some topics cover the same application and are connected with each other, than no problem is here. People still can use what they prefer. Olexijl
Actually, i am forced to manage downloads in the ONE topic only. IDM section in Coders Corner has now 2 subsections: one for fixes and one for host patcher...
Administrator Lite Posted October 26, 2011 Administrator Share Posted October 26, 2011 The other topic can still be restored, if needs be. However i would like to come to an agreement on the situation.I agree some work needs to be done the "current fixes" topic, we'll address that one. Olexijl
Well, as for me, the rule i am now informed about (too late, however) does not make too much sense.I usually like rules which make sense (well, but even if they do not i usually follow them). However rules are not something valid forever, they are still open for discussion and correction. We have on nsane many areas where people can post their fixes (on a sharecode system), but we can differ between public area (like News&Updates) and the closed area (like Coders Corner)On News&Updates we offer updates of the current products. After posting the updates, people still can post fixes (not matter if they made them on their own or it is a cracker group releases). The reason why Coders Corner was created is for people who can code to give opportunity (chance) to offer THEIR releases. So to be approved on Coders Corner, people need to post the releases they only created. In the past month i was active on CC i notified that there are 2 reasons why people post their releases there:1) they want to be useful2) they want feedback and find bugs in the releasesThe rule system in CC do not satisfy my wishes to be useful and to find bugs enough though. If people "own" their own topic which is intended for 1 fix per application, than this would be great. Instead people are forced to discuss everything in 1 topic per application.Visitors of CC can still use the "current fixes" topic to quickly overview all fixes available for applications.Sorry, those are just my thoughts about the situation i was forced to live in.I can hardly express my disappointment about this, but rules are valid currently for all. So i have to live with this.
