ROMANTICGUY50 Posted October 13, 2011 Share Posted October 13, 2011 I have two OS on my comptuer. WINDOWS XP and Ubuntu 1110. Each one has its its own hard drive. After Ubuntu is downloaded into my computer I need to know I have to setup what system I want to start first, Right now its Ubuntu, which it always has been. The screen gives me a choice which one I want to start. I need to know what settings need to be setup so I will have a choice which one I want to use. When I put the last upgrade in I had a friend from my church do it for me I need presice information how I I need to have it setup, Please give me step by step instructions for me cause I have never done it myself. I would be great full for this cause their a lot of tech wises on this site that would be able to show be how. toyo Posted October 13, 2011 Share Posted October 13, 2011 So let's get this a little more clearer, as I'm not sure I get exactly what you want:- you have 2 HDD, with 2 OS, XP and Ubuntu- you want to control which OS starts up by default?Since you have the OS on two separate HDDs, you can set this up on BIOS. I can't really give you step by step info as I dunno your computer, but:- you must set the boot order for the HDDs, put the one containing the OS you want to start by default the first. (MY PC: Boot>Boot Device Priority, choose the order for the HDDs, save BIOS)- to access the other OS, there's a key you must press during the BIOS POST sequence (so you can select the HDD you want to boot from), usually. henz Posted October 14, 2011 Share Posted October 14, 2011 that should a graphical ui for the bootloader boot sequence.my fedora kde, press alt + f2 --> type bootloader, that will be a program for you.of course you can manually edit from grub conf.
