When you browse the Web, changes occur to your computer system. Some of these might be harmful, like the unsolicited installation of malware. When you use Sandboxie to protect your browsing session, it catches all these changes just as the browser is about to apply them into your computer system. Sandboxie does record these changes on behalf of the browser, but it records them in a special isolated folder, called the sandbox. Thus, with Sandboxie, you can browse the Web securely while still keeping all your browser's functionality for active and dynamic content, such as javascript and ActiveX. All undesired side effects can be easily undone.

Thanks to thylacine for the update.

from what ive read her on nsane.furums a patch for the 64 bit version of sandboxie is impossible. I cant remember the specifics. I did see on sandboxies website that it is 50% off all this wk. Lifetime license. g/l

Bump?

I don't see how it would be possible for 32 bit and not for 64 bit; not a programmer, but I've never heard of this before.

I'd probably be pretty content with Google Chrome if I hadn't noticed this about many of indispensable addons I use with it:

"Caution: NPAPI plug-ins can do almost anything, in or outside of your browser. For example, they could use your webcam, or they could read your personal files."

It's disgusting how few software offerings exist that don't blatantly create exceptions that render them pointless. Is there not a way of configuring a virtual machine to do the same thing sandboxie does? Anyone ever heard of MS SteadyState? Basically, applied the concept of Sandboxie to the whole Windows user account. Went away with XP/Vista, but still available on CNET. Unfortunate nobody picked up on this concept. It would be awesome to log into a "incognito" account for file sharing research and the like.
