Both Softpedia&Major Geeks have revealed direct download links from Microsoft for the SP1 Vista:

Download Full Installer

Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is now available. Experience the WU based Vista SP1 installation by following 4 simple steps.

Windows Vista SP1 distributed will be applicable to Windows Vista machines that are running on any of the 36 languages supported by Vista RTM.

If you already installed the Service Pack to your machine by using the standalone package, you must uninstall before you scan Windows Update for Windows Vista SP1.

Systems running on Windows Vista RTM require as many as three updates before SP1 can be installed. These updates are permanent to your Windows Vista systems. Windows Update will detect your system configuration and offer the prerequisite packages that are applicable to your system.

I swear to god it doesnt auto start any sp1 installation. It brings me to a flashy little flash menu with the options of ..

Browse DVD

Read notes

Install MSXML

Install Network framing or something 2.0

Install Windows automated installation somthing and thats it!

When I browse and try to click on everything that says x86 it says I do not have enough memory ! Which is not true either!

ok so as I understand it, you have to burn this iso to a DVD than re-install/reformat vista pretty much, its not really an upgrade I am assuming.

omg... i know there is a simple action

1.. Install

2.. Run

3.. Ur done :) have a nice day

Funny and helpful ... except there are 3 problems..

1. I cant install SP1. I only have the option of install WAIK

2. When I run it, it STILL doesnt let me install SP1. Brings up some XML viewer thing.

3. No where near done and thanks I will have a nice day

:) I got my copy of sp1 from elsewhere and can confirm it is the final release, if you have an "illegal" copy of vista all you have to do is google "Vst.X-Free.AO.2.1.2.1.1-FF_StR0" which is the latest activator, you'll find plenty of links for it,run the activator,re-boot and then install sp1 and you'll have a fully activated copy of vista..

Also if you're using the paradox bootloader just overwrite it with the new activator and you're good to go... :w00t:
