Nsane's user rating method

I think, nsane's user rating method must be change.number of post must not be important.quality of posts is important. That is very bad for Nsane.Nsane is like samsung phones, every day samsung create a phone but apple only create 1 phone per year but quality of that is very high.

What do u think about that & what do u offer?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another thing is,When admin of forums want to choose a " Current Forum Star " , maybe will be better if admin choose 10 person for that and users of forum choose who will be Current Forum Star.

And what do u think about this?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think 3 points per reputation and 0.5 points per post.if a person won Current Forums Star add 100 points for him.users have a threshold for every degree. For example : VIP members must have 500 or 600 points or Senior member have 300 points...I think that is the best.

Same as AlienForce, number of posts is not a reliable measurement, but a reliable measurement is practically impossible ;)

Yes...who will judge quality? Very good point and I agree 100%. On the other hand you dont need a PHD to know what shit crap looks like in order not to step in it. Ive been steppin' lightly lately.

:lmao: :shit: Yeah I agree too.. relying on rep points or star rating is like waiting for someone to get something done.. and they are under no obligation to do so.. so your demographic and range of effecting factors will rely upon 'Da member' variable... Many just read and move on...

We do sometimes jump someone to a new user class. It would be damn hard watching everything posted an evaluate if someone don't deserve an upgrade based on post count.

I like the idea of implicating the members more somehow in choosing the Forum Star. We should discuss this further and maybe find a way.

I don't think it matters what your title is. All you need to know is who's a moderator, founder or admin.

Every forum I've ever been on will change your user title after a certain number of posts, or it's disabled/not present at all. Nothing wrong with it at all. Spending time here lets you see who contributes what so you know which posts you like.

Anyone complaining must think that their posts are more deserving than others. When I think what would cause someone to bring up this subject, all I see is someones jealousy like " How come they're VIP, I post more software than them, all they do is chat bollox. I'm more important than they are, yet im not a VIP"

:frusty:

It makes no difference if you make 1000 posts in a month or in 5 years. Both have contributed to the site in their own way.

Just chill out and enjoy the site and it's friendly, helpful, generous members. B)

I think this is why I never gave titles or star rating, rep points any real thought.. I may give them when I can and have time.. but never really felt like I had to run a campaign or anything.. :P

I like the personalized ones that admin give to people based on some part of their character, or something funny they do regularly on the forum. If you know what I mean. :D Maybe too many members here to do that though. I've always liked the personal approach B) But humour is difficult to understand across all the nations on here, let alone the web and typed words. All you can really try is to add smileys to show things said in jest. But it could easily offend people.

The Current Forum Star is actually an initiative which provides a more 'personal touch' to a person's achievements, we can't have more than one at a time though and there's always a lot of people who are close...

I think everyone just needs to take comfort in the fact that their posts are read by others and that these others value them a lot ;)

we can't have more than one at a time though

I think morteza said we should choose a pool of 10 candidates, and the site would vote a winner. I'm not sure we can find 10, but maybe 5? We should give it a chance sometime, to see if the members would like to participate (with an anonymous vote) :)

what about this

750 posts with 30rep get vip status

i have seen many vips who have 0 reps

This idea is also pretty interesting. There are many ViPs with no reputation, since the rep system is a newer addition and a few of these members did not visit the site so often lately, so no posts --> no reputation.

I don't know about any of you guys but my super secret status on here that only I know about is "Führer of Nsane". As long as you don't relate that word with Hitler, that's me baby!

We are only what we make ourselves. Titles given to us by others are often mislabeled, misunderstood, improperly tagged or glamorously exaggerated UNLESS we live up to the title name. Whatever it is we do the most in a forum board, that is what needs to be evaluated for a title sake.

As for Senior members, I have been a member for a lot longer than other members who currently HAVE the senior status while I am still just a member. The larger and more popular the website gets, the more need and desire for healthy change there is, and the only way that change can be affective is with constructive criticism of course...and man power. The need for new selfless forum moderators is growing it appears.

  • Administrator

User ranks are not so important. The current system is simple and seems to work as intended. We can manually adjust user ranks and rep points quite easily. Maybe this is something we can consider for the future.

Thanks.
