people are getting really excited about the next windows, which is known as Windows 7 or Windows Se7en. We saw a lot of discussions and rumors going around, especially 2 posts posted by Microsoft’s testers, the first post was deleted after a short while but the cached version still remains on istartedsomething. The next post also revealed few screenshots of what the tester claims to be the GUI of Windows Se7en. This post is not yet deleted and can be found in here.

The poster claims that these screenshots are from the Windows Se7en M1 (milestone 1)

Here is the translated Version from the Original chinese post: (google translator was used)

Several recent Windows seven out of the news, I am not good at Menghua against Menghua still can.

The fact is, Windows 7 is the first Milestone out, and truly act like those from naturally very far.

M1, a relatively new thing: support a number of different display adapters, which is in the same machine at the same time using different graphics to multiple monitors; update stronger Media Center. Also on Win7 plan XDDM driver can only be used for the certification of all XP die.

Win7 planning step is the release of the three Milestone, then Beta, RC, RTM. M1 is January 2008, M2 is 4 / May, M3 is the third quarter, Beta and RC to be determined, RTM is probably in the second half of 2009. Out Vista is released after a three-year, 3-year upgrade also is not bad compared Vista “five years to get” a much better reputation.

M1 ISO to get 6519.1.071220-1525, IA32 and X64 have, with or without debug information with the election, is not Free Zone, the zone is Checked.

Installation of the machines are Bealake/G33 motherboards, onboard graphics, and an ATI X300SE 128M, Core 2 Duo 2.66G, 1G memory, this configuration is not high, not just look at the run smoothly. Vista graphics board with the drive can be installed, chipset inf because no equipment to check the version, the ATI card has never available drive, give up.

Interface with the installation process is very similar and Vista, and even in the choice of different versions of the word or Vista Ultimate, Vista Home Premium, but Pre-Release agreement has been written in the text “Windows 7.” District interface automatically draw a district 500 M, seemingly in support of EFI because of this uncertainty. Intermediate will resume once again after the restart to enter the Win7.

After the start of the first set and the same Vista, including the account name, the machine name, time zone, such as the desktop background. Start the bottom of the interface, greatly read “Windows 7 Ultimate”

I'm not sure that's W7...

That seems like a tuned up Vista if you ask me...

Aero has brought more problems that other things to Microsoft, hence I don't think they'll keep that look....

If this is how the Windows Vistas succesor is going to be, then I'll stick with my faithful, loyal, free, powerful, good-for-all-purpouses Debian SID... As with the incoming of the new 2.6.24 kernel we're one step ahead of any of the Windows CPU/Resources managment methods... And so we'll keep it.

Linux(some distros more than others) is becoming easier, and powefull as hell, having the same graphic processing power and "alive desktops" or even powerfuller with less resources... Note that I'm not talking about composite managers like COmpiz-Fusion/Beryl/Compiz but the desktop system themselfs...

KDE4 is still too green but it will kick AEROS ASS back to hell...

Just my opinion though

haha... well I am just going to throw this out there but shouldn't Microsoft find out how to fix Vista first before even THINKING about a new OS? I cannot even begin to tell you how many hours I spend unscrewing the vista computers of my colleagues ever week. To tell you the truth I am relitivly supprised that Vista was not released with the suffix "beta" because first of all when Vista released it was more of a Release Canidate than a final version (but the non-developers have been calling non-finalized software "beta" for a few years anyways Read GMail) MS did not have proper driver support... not that you need drivers, Microsoft is in the SOFTWARE biz not the hardware biz. :dance2: And then there is the other issues like who the hell comes up with Vista's User Account Control and is able to market it as a security feature ??? It does not provide security people! It enhances user ignorance. The user begins to establish a habbit of just clicking without thinking. "Yep! Seen that prompt before -Click- Shit! Why did my computer crash as my virus scanner when ballistic (true experience of a colleague)" But What Ever, There is probably a reason for the empty bottle of Hpnotiq sitting next to me. (A gift from a Vista user by the way)

Cheers Have a good night

no way that is the next windows , it's impossible to start so fast on the project whilst there are so many issues with Vista so far, yet i would like to compliment vista over XP, just for the note, XP had so much more issues than Vista did, all what you need for vista is a whole new set of PC components and u r flying without wings, trust me......

To me it looks like a Windowblinds Skin with a few DesktopX Objects & Widgets placed on the desktop.

i really can't see any point in releasing another OS...i mean wtf is M$ thinking...they should just release the xp sp3 instead of creating a hole new OS that resembles Vista...and if W7 will come out...what will happen to vista...haha...it will vanish as fast as it was released

Win7 is just crossed a milestone M1... next Milestone somewhere in June I think.

Right now it is just the OS core... They are refining the core which is around 25 Mb

They plan to reduce/refine the size of the core to a smaller size.

Once that is achieved.. the Shell on top will be built.. not sure as of now that if it would be from scratch or they would reuse some of the Vista features.

The one shown on this post is using M1 core with Vista shell on top.

So first they let everyone buy top-notch stuff to run Vista cool, and now they make a Windows 7 to replace the older systems with XP? :smoke:
