avmad
My PC used to shutdown in about 2 seconds, now it's taking more like 2-3 minutes. It's just hanging on the shutting down now page. It closes services ok but then hangs. It's been doing it for a few days and I thought it would have sorted itself out by now. :frusty: I've tried closing down my programs manually before shutting down but made no difference.W7 64 btw. Anywhere I should look for altered configs or anything? It's not a huge problem but is bugging me now, especially if restarting and having to wait.Any ideas? Also, is your computer dumping Prefetched files during shutdown? Deleting temp files? Any number of things could cause this. Does the computer boot up slow too? Also, it very well could be virtual memory dumping, I've ran into this particular issue many times.Good luck
mara-
Right click in Computer, choose Manage. In three view on the left choose Applications and Service Logs->Microsoft->Windows->Diagnostic-Performance->Operational.You can see here what is slowing it down.Cheers ;)

avmad
Ok I've solved it, thanks for your suggestions. I remembered (after looking into software lol) That I had set to clear paging file at shutdown  Thing was I had also managed to do it with 2 programs :D Turned both off and its sorted.
