Valve just releases Proton 11.0-1 for Steam. It adds support for several new games so you can play them on SteamOS and Linux.
Steam’s compatibility layer for playing Windows games on Linux has just received an update. Proton 11.0-1 brings support for five newly playable games and 13 games that are not playable on the stable release but previously worked on the Proton Experimental version.
For those wondering what charity this is that Valve is doing for Linux users, well, it isn’t charity; it’s business. Valve’s own SteamOS is based on Linux, so getting games working in Proton means it can sell more games to its users. People on Linux just also happen to benefit.
Here are the games that previously worked in Proton Experimental:
- Universe Generator: The Golden Sword
- DCS World Steam Edition
- Resident Evil (1996)
- Resident Evil 2 (1998)
- Dino Crisis
- Dino Crisis 2
- From Dust
- Blaite
- Don't Die Dateless, Dummy!
- METAL GEAR SURVIVE
- Warhammer: Vermintide 2
- Metal Fatigue
- SHOGUN: Total War
Meanwhile, these games are newly playable:
- Unknown Faces
- Gothic 1 Classic
- X-Plane 12
- Breath of Fire IV
- Deadly Premonition
