TV Time founder Antonio Pinto is building Bingers, a new tracking app for displaced users with imported archives and improved features.

Earlier this month, we told you that TV Time was preparing to shut down its popular tracking service on the 15th of this month. Now, one of the app's founders, Antonio Pinto, has announced that he is working on a new platform called Bingers that he hopes will act as a home for TV Time refugees, who, by the way, can import their exported TV Time archives into the app.

Pinto sold TVShow Time to its current owners, Whip Media, back in 2016, when the app was still known as TVShow Time, after the buyer promised it could scale the user base using its Hollywood connections. Since then, the app has grown to over 25 million registered users.

The new Bingers app that Pinto is building will, according to him, perform better by resolving the chronic slowdowns that plagued the previous app during peak hours. The developer promises faster response times when marking episodes as watched, alongside a modern UI that brings back classic tracking features like upcoming calendars, a commenting system, and profile libraries.

Pinto said he felt sad when Whip Media decided to shut down TV Time because the old platform had defined a massive portion of his life and the community felt like a second family.

Sad because TV Time was part of my life for so many years. And sad because this community was like my other family. Reading the community reactions after each episode became a ritual for me, and for many others.

And so, like I learned in This is Us, "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade". I decided to build the new home where the TV Time community could go. I wanted to rebuild all TV Time great features, but also fix everything that always bothered me.

Whip Media shut down TV Time due to high operating costs, explaining that maintaining a free service for millions of users created huge bills, and few users wanted a paid version. Bingers is coming to the App Store and Google Play by the end of this month.
