STALKER 2 is getting fresh quests, locations, characters, and more, all for free

GSC Game World has been consistently delivering updates to its latest game, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, since its launch in 2024. While they have mostly been bug fixing and optimization updates, the studio had a surprise for fans today with a reveal of a major content update. Dubbed the Stories Untold update, it carries a brand-new storyline with fresh quests, locations, characters, and more.

The new quest will take players into the Malachite region found in the west, investigating reports of a mysterious and dangerous signal interfering with personal digital assistants.

"You may hear their emergency transmission almost anywhere in the Zone," says the developer, explaining how to kick off the new questline. "Pay close attention to the Red Forest Region on your map, and from here on, your intuition, rationality and choices will lead you down the rabbit hole to see how deep it is."

Fairy Tale Pioneer Camp and the Old Mine in Red Forest are the new locations players can visit in their journeys, which are "worth your time" exploring, according to the studio. Several existing spots on the map, like Car Dump, Army Warehouses, City Boiler Room, Rail Depot, and Volkhov SAM, are now said to be inhabited by Stalkers too.

Moreover, depending on the choices players make as they spend time on the new questline, a brand-new hub area can appear on the map. This will occur in the Burnt Forest area, adding a technician, trader, medic, and guide for players, while also making it a rest and stash access location.

Lastly, the GP37V2 is incoming as a brand-new rifle to Stalkers. This is a modified version of the GP37 rifle featuring a pre-installed suppressor, a scope, and multiple firing modes. The weapon is described as being made for players who favor tactical playstyles.

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl Stories Untold update containing all these features and more will be available tomorrow, December 16, across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
